Job description

Staffing Coordinator Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop Nursing Department work schedules by allocating employees in shifts and position
  • Fulfilling staffing vacancies in advance to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts
  • Keeping meticulous attendance records and assisting with the progressive disciplinary process if staff members accrue excessive absences and/or tardiness.
  • Communicating with Unit Managers, In-Service Director and the Director of Nursing regarding floor orientation scheduling for newly hired employees in the nursing department.
  • Informs the supervisor(s) of last minute shift changes ensuring proper shift coverage.
  • Checking time clock punch records against master schedules and noting the appropriate changes.
  • Filling time correction forms for events such as missing meal periods or forgetting to clock in/out.
  • Acts as liaison with temporary staffing agencies who send nurses/nursing assistants to the facility
  • Utilizing computer software to prepare, change and update the master schedule.
  • Develop staff and promote a supportive team environment.
  • Assume responsibility for timekeeping and time off requests
  • Collaborate with payroll to ensure correct employee compensation
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external policies and regulations
  • Prepare and submit reports on staffing operations

Staffing Coordinator Requirements:

  • Cheerful, Creative, and Positive Thinker
  • Prior experience as staffing coordinator or similar position required
  • 2 years’ experience in health related field preferred but not required
  • Experience working with computer systems and software
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook is required
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent time management & prioritization skills required
  • Collaborative spirit and willingness to learn
