Production Lead

This position is responsible for activities associated with the startup and shutdown of presses, as well as troubleshooting issues to maintain continuous production.

What You'll Do
- Work with Supervisors to start up and shut down production operations.
- Read specifications, procedures, and work orders to determine set-ups, technicians, and machine settings required to mold plastic materials, as well as plan production sequences.
- Start machines and set controls to regulate vacuum, air pressure, temperature, and to synchronize speed of injection molding machines.
- Operate and manipulate machine controls, including push-button interfaces, to safely initiate, control, and monitor production equipment while maintaining established process parameters.
- Investigate and resolve operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks.
- Determine root causes of failures and recommend changes to processing methods using statistical procedures.
- Observe meters and gauges to verify and record temperatures, pressures, and press-cycle times.
- Monitor equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Clear jams and remove defective or substandard materials or products.
- Observe continuous operation of automatic machines to ensure that products meet specifications and to detect jams or malfunctions, adjusting as necessary.
- Assist press operators during production runs by resolving production issues and troubleshooting jobs as needed.
- Document parameter discrepancies to supervisors and Engineering. Follow up on changes needed to production processes.
- Operate or tend plastic molding machines to mold thermoplastic parts.
- Demonstrate personal safety and help maintain a safe work environment for yourself and other members of the Production team by following all company safety rules and guidelines.
What We're Looking For
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of hands-on injection molding processing experience.
- Education in injection molding and ability to apply the principles of Scientific Molding.
- Strong understanding on injection molding processes, including machine set up, processing, troubleshooting and primary and secondary operations.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and manufacturing best practices.
- Proven troubleshooting and complex problem-solving skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of molding machines, tooling, and related manufacturing equipment.
- Self-directed and results oriented with the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to support operators, collaborate with production personnel, and share information effectively.
- Ability to adapt to frequently changing production priorities and manage multiple projects independently.
