Job description

Connect Staffing is hiring a Rotor Technician Weingarthen Operator for a night shift position at an oil & gas / heavy manufacturing facility in Houston, TX. In this role, you will set up and operate CNC lathes and milling centers to machine high-tolerance rotor assemblies used in drilling motor power sections, working to exact blueprint and GD&T specifications. This is a long-term placement with daily overtime available.
Pay: $22-$27/hr
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5:00 PM-5:30 AM (night shift) - daily overtime
Location: Houston, TX

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and milling centers, including multi-axis turning and milling machines, to machine rotor components to exact dimensional tolerances for oil-and-gas drilling motor power sections.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work orders to plan machining sequences and determine tooling, speed, and feed settings
  • Load raw material and fixtures, set part offsets, prove out programs on the machine, and make basic G-code adjustments as needed
  • Operate and maintain Weingärtner CNC machining centers for high-precision rotor and stator components
  • Monitor machines for performance issues, detect malfunctions, and adjust parameters to maintain part quality
  • Conduct in-process dimensional inspections using digital micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, and indicators
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and housekeeping to maintain machine condition and safety compliance
  • Track work orders and routing using ERP or manufacturing software
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and maintain continuous improvement initiatives

Minimum Requirements
  • 2+ years of CNC machining experience operating: CNC lathes, CNC milling centers, Multi-axis CNC milling and turning centers, Experience with Weingärtner CNC machines is highly preferred
  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, and indicators
  • Ability to set up tooling and fixtures and navigate CNC controls, including basic program edits
  • Experience machining rotating equipment components rotors, shafts, or turbine parts in an oil & gas or heavy manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with multi-axis CNC milling centers and turning centers
  • Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts in a manufacturing setting
  • NIMS CNC Machining certification
  • Forklift certification
  • Technical certificate or vocational training in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field
  • Experience using ERP or manufacturing software for work order tracking and routing
  • Preferred prior job titles: CNC Machinist, CNC Lathe Operator, CNC Mill Operator, Turning Center Operator, Rotor Technician, Precision Machinist, CNC Setup Operator, Production Machinist, Machine Operator, Manufacturing Technician
