Job description

Position Summary:

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work under the supervision of our Pain Management Physician(s) to provide direct patient care including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, follow-up visits, and patient education. The APP will deliver high-quality care consistent with evidence-based clinical guidelines and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including medical history, physical exam, and diagnostic review.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic pain conditions.
  • Participate in medication management, including controlled substance prescribing per state/federal requirements and clinic policies.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and imaging studies.
  • Assist providers with in-office procedures and follow-up evaluations.
  • Educate patients on pain management strategies, treatment plans, and medication usage.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, surgical teams, and external specialists as needed.
  • Document patient encounters in the EMR accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in quality improvement, compliance, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Support clinic workflow and maintain positive patient experience and satisfaction.

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Certification as a Physician's Assistant, APRN, OR State of Florida Certified Nurse Practitioner or certification pending, as documented by temporary certificate.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Pain management, orthopedics, neurology, rheumatology, or primary care experience preferred (but not required depending on training structure).
  • Strong assessment, diagnostic, and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Excellent communication, patient education, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function independently within scope and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with chronic pain management or interventional pain procedures.
  • Experience with controlled substance management and monitoring (UDS, PDMP, opioid agreements).
  • Familiarity with EMR systems.
  • Knowledge of spine or musculoskeletal disorders.
