THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION FOR A Speech Language Pathologist  - BELOW ARE THE ESSENTAL DUTIES OF THIS VACANCY.POSITION TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist 

 

DEPARTMENT: Department of Special Education
REPORTS TO: Director - Special Education 
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
WORK SCHEDULE: 190 days
DATE REVIEWED: 08/2025



 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Maintains an up-to-date, in-field certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission; salary and length of contract to be established by the Board of Education. 

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Evaluates, identifies, and provides services to students who meet eligibility requirements for speech-language impairments.

 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. 

 
  • Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students 

  • Models correct use of language, oral and written

  • Demonstrates accurate and up-to-date knowledge of content 

  • Identifies speech and language disordered students through evaluation and analyzing communication skills of students found in the identification process

  • Plans and implements developmentally appropriate interactive learning experiences.

  • Provides consultative services to teachers, parents, administrators, and allied agencies in order to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom, other educational programs, and the home environment

  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere. 

  • Evaluates and reports student progress for continuation or termination of services

  • Participates with school administration/coordinators for effective planning, coordination, and implementation of speech/language pathology program into the total education system

  • Provides assessments that measure student achievement of objectives.

  • Utilizes technology effectively to plan, teach, and assess.

  • Evaluates, selects, and modifies resources and activities to match learners' needs and meet the curriculum standards.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

 
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from a Professional Standards Commission (PSC)-approved college or university required

  • Must have valid service certificate in Speech and Language Pathology

 

PREFFERRED  EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

 
  • Master's degree or higher in applicable field of education from a Professional Standards Commission (PSC)-approved college or university required

  • 3 years experience in school or education setting

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: To perform the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time. Lifting up to 30 pounds may be required on an occasional basis.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision and distance vision

Performance of this job shall be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
