The Financial Consultant - Finance Enablement will help drive analytic efforts and insight generation through assisting in developing a patient-centric model valuing member touchpoints across the broader Optum Health landscape. This work will empower business leaders to understand financial performance across multiple markets and make data driven decisions.


This individual will assist in generating analysis, reporting, and methodologies grounded in strong business acumen and technical skill. This role is well suited for individuals looking to be challenged within a capable and supportive team. You will gain real experience in finance, data, and programming within a complex healthcare model.


You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct medical and financial analytics / reporting to support Finance, Network, and Actuarial teams
  • Work with support to cross-functionally capture complex business logic and translate into transparent data solutions
  • Develop strong understanding of healthcare data source systems and the general ledger across multiple products and markets
  • Contribute to the development and programming of analytic methodologies and pipelines, following best practices and ensuring quality processes
  • Work within a matrixed organization and learn from diverse subject matter experts to increase collective knowledge of business processes
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences, including roadblocks and alternative solutions

Required Qualifications:

  • 1.5 years of experience in healthcare, finance, accounting, or data analytics
  • Experience working in a dynamic team environment
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and familiarity with P&L management
  • Proven levels of resourcefulness and problem solving by leveraging both individual research and internal resources and connections

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
  • 1 years of programming experience in SAS, SQL, R, Python, Snowflake, or similar
  • 1 years of experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or similar cloud platform
  • Experience in accounting, finance, healthcare, payer, or managed care environments

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
