Infrastructure Coordinator/Telecomm Manager

Work Schedule: 40 hours/week

Location: Hybrid at least 4 days onsite, MA 02120

Pay rate of $62.94/hr on W2

Duration: 12 months -Potential to extend

The Infrastructure Coordinator is responsible for complete execution of all network and telecommunication projects from initiation to closure. This position will define initial project scope and resources both internal to NU and external vendor resources, milestones and deadlines in coordination with the functional areas, Information Services technical groups as well as external vendors. The IPM will develop and initiate request for proposals to vendors in a process oriented and repeatable environment working closely with technical colleagues. The IPM will manage all submitted vendor RFPs and award vendor contracts to ensure successful and quality implementation of network and telecommunication projects based on specific standards and best practices and design specifications. The IPM directs external vendors on execution of design specifications, implementation and successful deployment of network and telecommunications technologies. This includes working internally with the facilities department, academic and administrative departments on renovations and new construction of network and telecommunications requirements. Also included would be technology refresh and implementation of new technologies. This individual will also educate external vendors on University standards, quality of service and best practices and documentation standards. This individual is responsible for multiple projects at any one given time.

To ensure that essential services are provided to the university community, the employee will be required to work outside regular working hours and on some university holidays.


1. Qualifications

  • Provide the minimum education, experience, and skills required to perform the job successfully.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in computer science or related field is preferred. Higher Education experience is a plus.
  • Progressive work experience in network infrastructure, structured cable, with strong project management and troubleshooting; hands-on experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years technical project management experience.
  • Current RCDD desired, Inactive RCDD or RCDD LAN Specialist, Installer, Technician required.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with blueprints, construction documentation and AutoCad


Proven ability to document. Attention to detail essential.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage resources against priority projects, develop and manage project and implementation plans, and identify and fill resource gaps with internal and external resources.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of BCSI Standards.
  • Any combination of the following is a plus, though not required:
  • Construction or related field experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of cabling structures including fiber optic, copper, and coaxial.
  • Manufacturer certified by Ortronics.
  • Cable and or Systems experience with: CATV, CCTV, LAN, VOIP, and Audio Video.
  • McCormick estimating system or similar system experience
  • ITIL and PMP certifications
  • Licensed electrician
