Field Support Engineer

What is an IT Operations Field Support Engineer? ย 
The Field Support Engineer is responsible for partnering with the operations team to deliver and support data driven network solutions. This position will support site network design standards and successfully deliver operations initiatives and the development of technical requirements for edge networking. Previous roles in an IT Operations position delivering on a broad list of enterprise solutions and initiatives is a plus. Ability to execute a comprehensive strategy with good communication, and proven success balancing project management, and business analysis is critical. Equally important to success is the ability to build relationships across the organization and to seek ways to support organizational operational objectives.
In this role, you will:

  • Provide support and be a technical escalation point for user support requests
  • Support, maintain and troubleshoot devices, systems, hardware, and software
  • Perform repairs and data restorations
  • Maintain network solutions at branch offices and field sites
  • Configure and install various network and SCADA devices and services
  • Monitor network and perform updates, configurations, and patching
  • Vendor management of 3rd party services and relationships
  • Provide technical support or training for systems, networks, and tools
  • Maintenance of IT Support Systems and Tools
  • Ensure safety protocols, security compliance, and best practice are followed
  • Develop technical artifacts and data management policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with other professionals to maintain standards and functionality
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by management in support of operational goals and objectives.

Required and Preferred Abilities:

  • Experience using MS Teams and SharePoint
  • Highly motivated self-starter who is interested in constant improvement
  • Be able to, both independently and collaboratively, troubleshoot and repair issues, solve problems, make decisions, and support change
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and project coordination skills, with excellent attention to details and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to collaborate and build relationships with staff, clients, remote colleagues and supervisors, and others
  • Proven practical communication skills (both spoken and written)
  • Exercise sound judgment, ask questions and be open to the input and decisions of others
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, IPSEC, BGP, OSPF, WAN, WLAN, VoIP, and QoS

Education and/or Experience:

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Office 365 preferred

  • 5+ years of senior-level (tier 1 or 2) administration and engineering experience in an enterprise IT environment, performing operational and break/fix activity, and engineering and design
  • 3+ yearsโ€™ experience managing Microsoft Office Suite, collaboration tools, and telecom systems
