Job description

Duration: 6-Month Contract to perm. Onsite 5 days/week


Key Responsibilities:

Wireless Engineering & Design

  • Perform link budget calculations, reliability analyses, and path feasibility studies for wireless communication systems.
  • Design, model, and optimize wireless networks including Private LTE, 5G, Narrowband, and Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems using Infovista Planet.
  • Conduct coverage analysis, frequency planning, and interference studies.
  • Support field cabinet design activities involving radios, modems, switches, routers, battery backup systems, and related telecommunications equipment.
  • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for telecommunications infrastructure projects.
  • Review and provide redline comments on construction drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with grounding and installation standards for telecommunications systems.

Field Engineering & Deployment

  • Conduct site surveys, path surveys, inspections, and field validation activities.
  • Support equipment installation, integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Perform RF and wireless system testing in both laboratory and field environments.
  • Configure and support wireless communication equipment from multiple vendors.
  • Prepare installation documentation, antenna layouts, and technical field reports.
  • Assist clients with technical field support and implementation activities.

Project & Client Support

  • Respond to client requests and provide engineering recommendations and design solutions.
  • Present technical concepts and project updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project management teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain Methods of Procedure (MOPs), testing plans, technical processes, and operational documentation.
  • Support telecom infrastructure projects within utility environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2โ€“5 years of experience in wireless communications engineering.
  • Experience with RF design principles, wireless network planning, and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of Infovista Planet and wireless propagation modeling.
  • Experience with GIS tools such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
  • Understanding of wireless technologies including LTE, 5G, Narrowband, and Land Mobile Radio systems.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Utility industry experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Experience with Nokia, Ericsson, or other wireless equipment vendors.
  • Hands-on radio configuration and commissioning experience.
  • Experience delivering technical workshops, presentations, and client-facing engagements.
  • Knowledge of telecom grounding standards and field installation best practices.
  • Experience developing testing procedures, MOPs, and operational processes.
  • Wireless system testing and optimization experience.
