JOB DESCRIPTION
Leads, directs and motivates a technical design staff, which includes telecommunication engineers, designers, drafters, contract administrators, and other professionals. Ensures that design documents and construction packages produced for telecom, transmission line, and substation project work are devoid of any errors or omissions. Ensures that the designs reflect the use of industry best practices and adherence to company and department standards. The manager facilitates fulfillment of cost and schedule commitments made to their departments and optimal use of the company's engineering resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leads, directs and motivatesa technical design staff, which includes telecommunications engineers,designers, drafters, contract administrators and project managerProfessionals:
  • Provides high qualityengineering drawings and construction packages for telecommunication,transmission line, and substation projects in accordance with schedule andcost commitments made to other departments. (15%)
  • Develops and ensures thattelecommunication system, equipment, settings and testing practices areconsistent and standardized. (30%)
  • Provides on-demand,responsive engineering support when complex system engineering, projectconstruction, or operations and maintenance related issues arise. (10%)
  • Established and skillfullymanages departmental and capital budgets, ensuring good use of companycapital and full attainment of departmental and corporate financial goals.(10%)
  • Directs personnel activitiesof staff (i.e. hires, trains, rewards, disciplines, motivates, etc). (10%)
  • Provides cost estimates toplanning departments to support feasibility analysis or cost/benefitcomparison of various alternatives. (15%)
