Job description

Overview
MasTec Communications Group performs both wireline and wireless communication services on a national scale. We are experts in cell tower construction, RF engineering, broadband fiber optic cable installation, OSP engineering, wireline construction, and emergency maintenance services.

Responsibilities
The Drafter III is responsible for providing computer-aided design (CAD) drafting utilizing Microstation (ICGS/IDDS), preparing drawings and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, Red Lines, and sketches.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create utility pole placement/removal work prints.
  • Prepare drawings and designs according to the client's engineering specifications using applicable software
  • Read field notes and digitize them in ICGS/IDDS system.
  • Make design decisions regarding construction and safety methods in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as client-supplied information
  • Prepare Field documents for clients, adhering to industry standards
  • Communicate with internal staff and clients over the phone and email
  • Manage production/time of multiple workflows
  • Perform quality checks on plan design drawings
  • Have familiarity with telecom projects detailing outdoor equipment, indoor building layouts, and fiber diagrams
  • Be detail-oriented, have a professional attitude, good communication, and be a team player
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, relationship building, self-starter, excellent time management, and organizational skills
  • Work as part of a team or independently
  • Set up and manage CAD drafting and plan preparation standards
  • Read information and instructions, and interpret and analyze the content from materials such as technical reports
  • Solve problems that are frequent and unique (A CAD draftsman may need to use creativity and judgment due to frequently changing conditions)
  • Complete tasks with latitude to decide what work will be required well in advance of actual activities

Qualifications
Skills and Experience:
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have a minimum 2 years of experience working with ICGS/IDDS
  • 2-Year Technical or Associate Degree in CADD preferred
  • Ability or knowledge of using the following: electronic devices, and software: Excel, Word, Auto CAD, O-Calc.
