The Teen Development Coordinator plays a crucial role in empowering young people by creating engaging programs, fostering leadership opportunities, and providing mentorship in a safe and inclusive environment. This individual will work closely with teens, helping them explore their passions, develop essential life skills, and navigate personal and academic challenges. The ideal candidate will be passionate about youth development and committed to creating impactful experiences that inspire teens to design their own futures.

• Youth Engagement & Relationship Building oAssures site is open and safe during specified hours each day for youth participants.
• Serve as a mentor and role model to teens in all aspects of program engagement. oFoster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that encourages youth voice and participation.
• Maintain consistent communication with teens and families to promote engagement and trust.
• Program Implementation oSupport the design and delivery of various programs in areas such as academic enrichment, art expression, career readiness, civic engagement, life skills, and recreation.
• Serves as the main point of contact for parents, guardians, and community members. oAssures equipment and facilities are in good working order, clean, and well maintained.
• Facilitate workshops, group discussions, and creative activities aligned with program goals. oAssist in planning and executing field trips, events, and special initiatives.
• Monitoring & Evaluation oTrack attendance and participation; contribute to data collection and reporting efforts.
• Responsible for daily attendance, collecting enrollment packets, ensuring case notes are properly logged, and reporting on youth participation & program performance data along with completion of site operation goals. oProvide direct supervision of all staff and volunteers assigned to site and establish and maintain a collaborative, accountable, and results driven culture between all YP staff at their site.
• Observe and assess youth behavior, providing feedback and support as needed.
• Assist in evaluating program effectiveness and recommending improvements.
Environment & Safety
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment within the teen space.
• Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all participants by monitoring spaces and reporting incidents or concerns immediately.
• Follow and uphold site policies and emergency procedures.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment during food service.
• Wipe down tables, counters, and food service areas before and after meal periods.
• Assist in cleaning and storing food service items after use.
• Properly dispose of food waste and trash in designated containers.
Meal Preparation & Setup
• Assist in unpacking, organizing, and setting up preprepared meals or snacks in accordance with program schedule.
• Ensure all food items are within safe temperature ranges and properly labeled if required.
• Set up serving stations with appropriate utensils, napkins, condiments, and other necessary supplies.
Serving Meals
• Serve meals to youth participants in an orderly and respectful manner.
• Follow portion control guidelines to ensure compliance with nutrition standards (e.g., CACFP or SFSP guidelines if applicable).
• Monitor the flow of meal distribution to avoid congestion and ensure efficient service.
• Collaboration & Communication oWork closely with other staff, volunteers, and community partners to coordinate services and opportunities for youth.
• Attend regular team meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
• Support outreach efforts to recruit new participants and build relationships with local schools and organizations.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor’s degree in youth development, education, social work, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience working with teens in a structured setting (e.g., afterschool, schoolbased, or community programs).
• Passion for youth empowerment and an understanding of the challenges facing urban adolescents.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflictresolution skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends.
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
• Must pass background checks and complete required training certifications (e.g., State Background, FBI Fingerprints, Child Abuse, NSOR, CPR/First Aid, Mandated Reporter).

Working Conditions
