Job Description

Great Basin College (GBC) is seeking a dynamic and collaborative leader to serve as the Director of Clinical Education and Respiratory Therapy Teaching Faculty for the Cardio-Respiratory Care Science Program. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position based within GBC's service area. The primary work location will be in Elko, Winnemucca, or in Reno at Renown, and reports to the Respiratory Therapy Program Director and the Dean of Health Sciences and Behavioral Health.

The Director of Clinical Education will lead and shape the clinical education experience for respiratory therapy students across diverse healthcare settings. The Director of Clinical Education will oversee the design, coordination, and continuous improvement of clinical learning experiences, ensuring students develop the skills needed for evolving clinical practice. Responsibilities include organizing and managing clinical placements, evaluating program effectiveness, and fostering strong partnerships with clinical sites and preceptors.

This position will also provide oversight and support to part-time faculty delivering instruction in remote locations and will actively teach students throughout Nevada using a combination of in-person, Zoom, and online platforms.

This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on rural healthcare workforce development while working in a flexible, student-centered environment. Due to the geographically distributed nature of the program, travel within the GBC service area is required.

Qualifications

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of four (4) years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), with at least 2 years in clinical respiratory care.

  • Current or ability to obtain Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners Respiratory Care Practitioner License.

  • State of Nevada Point of Care Analyst POCA or Blood Gas Technologist license required within 120 days of hire.

  • Excellence with written and verbal communication.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and supportively with students, colleagues, and clinical partners.

  • Teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the AAS Cardio-Respiratory Care Science program, including lecture, online, and clinical.

  • Evaluate student performance and ensure achievement of learning outcomes.

  • Coordinate respiratory therapy clinical placement.

  • Support part-time respiratory therapy faculty, including scheduling part-time faculty for all laboratory sites.

  • Participate in curriculum development and accreditation activities.

  • Maintain program records, databases, and complete required reports.

  • Assist in student recruitment, advisement, and retention.

  • Assist in selection and ordering of equipment, supplies, and textbooks.

  • Be responsible for professional development and maintaining professional competence.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and clinical partners.

  • Travel throughout the GBC service area (with or without accommodations under the American with Disabilities Act) as needed.

Compensation Grade

Academic Faculty - 2

B Contract - 9 month (end of August to mid May) working contract paid over 12 months.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000

Salary is based on relatable education and experience, internal equity and budgets.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees

Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee's spouse or domestic partner.
