Job description

Nucor is North America's largest recycler and most diversified steel and steel products company. Since 1969, we've led the industry in developing innovative technologies for recycling scrap into high-quality steels that are all around us, from bridges and buildings to cars and appliances. Short Description About Us: Vulcraft/Verco Group (VVG), a proud Nucor product group, is North America’s largest Steel Joist and Steel Deck producer. With multiple locations throughout the United States, VVG is proud to design world-class building solutions tailored to meet the needs of any market including commercial, industrial, agricultural, and institutional.. VVG offers work/life balance and a variety of benefits and performance incentives. We take pride in connecting teammates to meaningful work and focus heavily on both personal and professional development. Whether your background is in engineering and design, information technology and software development, marketing, or sales, with Vulcraft/Verco Group you can go as far as your drive and ambition will take you. Why Nucor? When you join Nucor, America’s largest steel manufacturer and recycler, you’ll help create a variety of steel products that become so much more, for so many people. And you won’t do it alone. Our supportive culture builds each other up, values family, relationships, and puts safety above anything else. With the freedom to take your ideas to the next level, there’s no end to what you can achieve. This is your chance to build a lifelong career, give back to your community, make the world a better place – and BE PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER. Job Security – Benefits – Bonus Programs With performance-based compensation, profit sharing, and a no-layoff practice, we take care of our teammates who design, engineer, fabricate, and support the products that define our company. Basic Job Functions: Vulcraft/Verco Group (VVG) Group Technology Services (GTS) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Technology Services Team Manager. This role will be an integral part of our GTS Leadership team formulating and executing our technology vision and strategy for VVG and GTS. This role shapes how our Technology Services team — which includes Quality Assurance and Support, Data and Business Information, Security, and Software Architecture — helps deliver innovative solutions for Vulcraft/Verco’s manufacturing operations across North America. This position needs to be located at one of our VVG plant locations and preferably at our VNE/NDC (Norfolk, NE), DALLAS (Dallas, TX) or VNY (Elmira, NY) location. This role is ideal for a technical leader who thrives on coaching a distributed team and translating strategy into day-to-day execution — someone equally comfortable setting technical direction while engaging GTS teammates and our business customers for success. Safety is the most important part of every job at Nucor; candidates must be able to initiate, lead, and uphold safety practices, policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Basic functions of this position include: Lead the Technology Services team: providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure teammate growth as well as successful project planning, communication, and execution. Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, lead, coach, and develop a team of technology professionals, across multiple plant locations and time zones, including those you won’t see in person every day. Provide ongoing feedback, performance management, training and teammate growth to build a strong, engaged and accountable team. Product-Aligned Technology Leadership: Lead the delivery, stability, and continuous improvement of technology solutions that support VVG, ensuring applications and platforms are reliable, secure, and scalable solutions. Organizational Alignment: Build strong relationships with GTS leadership, Nucor technology leadership, project sponsors, and VVG department leaders to ensure alignment with enterprise standards, platforms, and strategic direction. Communication & Transparency: Maintain clear, proactive communication with teammates, peers, leadership, and stakeholders. Translate technical concepts into business-relevant information and provide timely updates on priorities, progress, and risks. What Makes This Role Unique Lead across the full GTS technology stack — quality, data, security, and architecture — rather than a single specialty. Shape how GTS delivers technology to Vulcraft/Verco plants across North America. Build and coach a geographically distributed team, growing your own leadership bench in the process. A leadership path that keeps you close to the technology instead of moving you away from it. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; equivalent combination of education and experience (4+ years) is acceptable. Minimum 5+ years related experience in leading multiple, cross-functional teams in a software technology environment. Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, now and in the future. Nucor is unable to provide sponsorship for this role. Preferred Qualifications: Previous supervisory / managerial experience. Project Management certification (PMP/PMI) or quality assurance certification (Six Sigma). Experience with one or more technology services; security, quality assurance, software architecture, and/or data and reporting.
