Job description

We are seeking a hands-on, strategic Senior Director of IT to build and lead the technology infrastructure of our growing organization. This is a newly created role designed to bring focused IT leadership as we scale. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will own all aspects of IT - from day-to-day operations and cybersecurity to EDI compliance, ERP management, and AI-driven innovation. At our size, this role requires a player-coach mindset: someone equally comfortable setting the IT roadmap and rolling up their sleeves to execute it.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a greenfield IT leadership role at a company with real momentum. You'll have the autonomy to build the IT function the right way - with the support of a leadership team that values technology as a business driver. If you're a hands-on IT leader who wants ownership, variety, and the chance to make a visible impact, this role is for you.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

EDI & Retail Integrations

  • Manage and maintain EDI compliance across national retail partners (Target, Walmart, Costco, and others)
  • Oversee API and system integrations connecting NetSuite, 3PLs, retail portals, and other platforms
  • Proactively manage retailer-specific compliance requirements to minimize chargeback and penalty risk

ERP & Systems Management

  • Own and administer our NetSuite ERP environment, including integrations, user management, and optimization
  • Manage day-to-day IT operations - laptops, devices, software provisioning, and helpdesk support
  • Lead platform strategy decisions including Google Workspace vs. Microsoft 365 and SaaS tool consolidation
  • Manage 3rd party IT managed services provider (MSP), overseeing service quality, escalations, and SLA adherence

Infrastructure & Cloud

  • Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and ensure reliability, performance, and cost efficiency
  • Oversee network, endpoint, and access management across a hybrid workforce
  • Evaluate, rationalize, and manage a portfolio of 20-40+ vendor and SaaS contracts

Cybersecurity

  • Develop and execute a cybersecurity strategy appropriate for our size, industry, and retail partnerships
  • Manage identity and access controls, threat monitoring, and incident response
  • Lead security awareness training and build a culture of security across the organization
  • Lead completion of owner/sponsor cyber program, coordinating internal stakeholders and ensuring all requirements and deadlines are met

Compliance, Risk & Business Continuity

  • Drive SOC 2 or equivalent compliance frameworks, particularly as retail partners increase audit requirements
  • Own backup management, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity protocols
  • Establish data governance policies - ownership, retention, and storage standards

AI & Innovation

  • Identify and implement AI tools that drive meaningful efficiency across business operations
  • Evaluate automation opportunities in collaboration with department leaders
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and bring forward-looking recommendations to leadership

Leadership & Budgeting

  • Build, manage, and mentor a small IT team; leverage external contractors and MSPs as needed
  • Own the IT budget - forecasting, cost optimization, and vendor negotiations
  • Serve as the primary IT voice to executive leadership, translating technical complexity into business impact
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of IT experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role
  • Proven experience managing EDI programs with national retailers
  • Hands-on expertise with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system
  • Strong cybersecurity background with working knowledge of compliance frameworks (SOC 2, NIST, or similar)
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendors, contracts, and IT budgets
  • Comfortable operating as a player-coach - strategic thinker who is also willing to execute
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to present clearly to non-technical executives
  • Experience in consumer products, retail, or a similarly fast-paced industry preferred

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Location: Riverton, Utah (hybrid role averaging 2-3 days per week in office)

Position Type: Full-time

Benefits:

  • Paid time off (flexible)
  • Paid holidays
  • Insurance: Health, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D
  • 401(k) + Company match
  • Eligible for company bonus plan
  • Free product allowance
