Job description

Functional Area: IT

The Role

Under limited supervision, responsible for moderately complex engineering, analytical and support activities associated with network/telecom communications including LAN/WLAN infrastructure installation and support, VoIP, data center installations, AV support, supporting hardware and software on IT computer related devices. Perform some service desk activities as necessary. Serve as primary contact for IT projects associated with location including working with contractors and other IT functions.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as project leader for IT projects specific to assigned location. Coordinates all contractor / vendor activity for assigned projects.
  • Primary IT liason for facility; works closely with plant leadership to coordinate IT activity, systems changes / outages, training, trouble-shooting, new projects.
  • Proactively maintain and document the physical network/telco/AV/Industrial Controls environments. Provides recommendations for network improvements and enhancements. Supports the corporate network engineers as necessary with troubleshooting, problem resolution according to established standards.
  • Assists in the planning, advises, recommends use of new technology or technology enhancements.
  • Performs upgrades to hardware and software. Deploy / maintain new hardware and software in compliance with internal controls, policies and standards.
  • Provide support to end users for escalated incident resolution; guide end users through troubleshooting procedures; provide technical assistance in setup, installation and configuration of hardware and software as necessary.

What You'll Bring

  • Associates Degree in an IT related discipline or equivalent combination of technical education and experience. 

  • 3-5 or more years of experience of working in a technology support role, including a working knowledge of network/telco environments. 
  • Knowledge - Thorough knowledge of networking, infrastructure components, telecommunications and wireless communications. Project Management knowledge a plus. Skills - Proactive problem-solving, multi-tasking and organizational skills. Strong communication skills both written and oral. 
  • Abilities - Ability to professionally handle multiple tasks and/or trouble tickets simultaneously and in a pressured environment. Ability to prioritize projects, proactively trouble shoot and establish schedules for cost effective and timely completion. Strong ability to work collaboratively in achieving responsive and quality customer service.
