Job description

We're one of the largest engineering and system integration firms in the United States providing value for our clients through IT automation and control solutions for more than 30 years to the Life Sciences, Mission Critical, Metals & Mining, Warehousing & Distribution, and CPG/Food & Beverage industries. Our national and global scale allows us to help our clients develop and implement standardized solutions at any of their facilities regardless of physical location or the local resources available at that site.
We are seeking a Controls Technician to support the commissioning of data centers. Responsibilities may include installation support, equipment calibration, wire termination, loop testing and data validation, functional testing, documentation, troubleshooting of integrated control systems and instrumentation.
This position is reporting onsite in Manassas, VA. You must be located in or within a commutable distance.
You Will:
  • Support the installation and commissioning of the data center Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS).
  • Verify and troubleshoot control system I/O wiring.
  • Perform field calibration of instrumentation when required.
  • Perform loop testing of device data points to verify each point from the device is properly integrated with the SCADA system.
  • Perform functional testing of the control system comprised of PLCs, HMIs, and vendor systems.
  • Document the testing progress and results through the use of spreadsheets and online tracking software such as BIM360 and CxAlloy.
  • Perform general system troubleshooting of network issues, wiring issues, data point mapping issues, and operational issues.
  • Be an ambassador who embodies our Core Values, prioritizing the success of E Tech Group, our clients, and the professional development of our associates.

You Have:
  • High school diploma or its equivalent with at least 3 of years of experience in the field or in a related area; may have completed an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty.
  • Basic understanding of control system components, wiring, and networking.
  • Excellent performance in stressful environments.
  • Work duties could be performed on weekends or holidays to fulfill customer commitments when required.
  • Able to address conflict resolution immediately and without fail.
  • A DNA comprised of collaboration and teamwork.

You May Have:
  • Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition, OPC UA/DA, Modbus/TCP, and A/B Rockwell PLCs.
  • Experience with Building Management & HVAC Control Systems.
  • Instrumentation calibration / startup experience
