Job description

IT Support Engineer / Systems Administrator


As an IT Support Engineer / Systems Administrator, you will provide remote and on-site technical support for HillSouth clients. You’ll work across a broad range of environments and technologies, including Windows servers and workstations, Microsoft 365, networking, firewalls, wireless networks, backups, cybersecurity solutions, and business applications.

This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to independently manage and prioritize technical issues while knowing when to collaborate or escalate.

What You'll Do

  • Provide remote, telephone, and on-site technical support to HillSouth clients.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Windows workstation, server, application, hardware, networking, and connectivity issues.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows PCs and servers.
  • Administer Microsoft Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications, accounts, and services.
  • Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, routers, switches, wireless networks, VPNs, and VLANs.
  • Install and support network-connected hardware, including workstations, printers, access points, and other business technology.
  • Assist with backup, disaster recovery, data protection, and cybersecurity solutions.
  • Use our ticketing, documentation, remote monitoring and management (RMM), and remote support platforms to manage client requests.
  • Accurately document client environments, configurations, procedures, troubleshooting steps, and completed work.
  • Prioritize service requests based on urgency, business impact, and client needs.
  • Work with teammates and third-party vendors to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Identify opportunities to prevent recurring issues and improve the reliability and security of client environments.
  • Travel to client locations as needed for installations, troubleshooting, maintenance, and project work.


What We're Looking For

3–5 years of professional IT experience is preferred, particularly in an IT support, systems administration, network administration, or Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.

Candidates should have hands-on experience with several of the following:

  • Windows 10 and Windows 11
  • Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022
  • Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Microsoft 365 administration and support
  • TCP/IP networking and subnetting
  • Managed switches and wireless networking

Position Details

Job Type: Full-time, hourly
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour day shift
Work Location: In person, with travel to client locations as needed
Weekend Work: Occasionally, as client or project needs require
