Job Requirements

Position Summary

 The Radiology Tech Assistant performs a variety of clerical and patient centered tasks to assist in the imaging department.

Minimum Requirements

Education           

        High School Graduate or equivalent

Experience        

  • Entry level patient care, Customer Service

 

License/Registration/Certifications       

        BLS Certification

Core Job Responsibilities

        Perform a variety of patient oriented tasks to assist in the imaging department

        Assist in transport of patients to and from the imaging department

        Assist with clerical duties in the imaging department to include answering the phone, patient pre/post phone calls, obtaining CD's for medical records and/or patients, coordination of imaging procedures with other departments, requesting medical records from other institutions, etc.

        Positively responds and implements change when needed and has good decision making skills.

        Assists technologists with quality control and maintenance of all equipment in the area

        Properly utilize accessory equipment such as patient moving devices, stretchers, warmers, scanners, printers, and PACS workstations

        Assist technologist with preparation of patients for procedures

        Assist patients in/out and on/off of the imaging equipment using correct moving devices and equipment

        Report changes in patient condition to medical staff.

        Assists in training of new staff

        Follows, maintains and helps implement hospital and departmental policies and procedures

        Consistently communicates with patients, guests, staff and physicians in a positive manner

        Knowledgeable of compliance and regulatory requirements and adheres to Federal, State, accrediting bodies, and standard practice of care for patients, staff, guests and facilities

        Adheres to departmental procedures and protocols

        Rotating schedules for after hours and holidays where applicable

        Assist with correct charging of procedures and supplies daily

        Helps to maintain departmental inventory of supplies

        Helps to maintain departmental cleanliness

        Works as a team member with peers and other departments. Responds calmly and efficiently to situations.

        Regularly attend departmental meeting, in-services and actively participate in continuing education activities

        Other duties as requested by supervisor or manager
