For 80 years Rice Lake Weighing Systems has been a successful, growth-oriented company known as a leader in the weighing industry and our community. Located in scenic northwestern Wisconsin just 90 miles from Minneapolis, RLWS offers big city careers in a small-town atmosphere. We are currently seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to join our team!
The Technical Sales Engineer performs a variety of inside sales duties including answering technical sales calls from customers, responding to customer inquiries regarding order status, order verification, order entry, price, delivery queries, special quotes, application specifications and assisting them in any customer service situation. They also ensure that all customer interactions are professional and friendly. The Technical Sales Engineers daily tasks have an emphasis in custom designed solutions specifically built to meet a customer's need. These customized solutions often entail the writing of a custom software specification, specifying custom hardware need(s), or a combination of both to produce a product/system that meets the customer's requirements. Finally, they must thrive in a team environment committed to world-class customer service.
A qualified candidate will possess the following:
  • High level of interpersonal skills: influencing, resolving conflict, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Must work well under pressure and maintain professionalism during stressful situations. Must be self-motivated, confident, highly dependable, and have solid follow-up skills.
  • Good M2K mainframe and personal computer skills including Windows, Word and Excel skills.
  • Good typing/keyboarding skills, 50+ wpm.
  • Possess good math skills to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact with other departments to gain access to necessary information and be able to multitask.
  • Exceptional oral/written reporting skills.
  • Excellent professional telephone skills and presence.
  • Able to respond to needs of customers in a timely and value-added manner.
  • Valid Driver's License

Education and Experience:
  • Degree in Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related electromechanical field, or 5 or more years' experience in weighing or related industry
  • Five (5) or more years weighing industry or related industry experience preferred
  • Two (2) or more years sales experience
