The Louisiana Department of Insurance is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
IT Applications Specialist 1/2 to join the Office of Management & Finance/Information Technology Division. In this position, you will support and maintain agency applications and technology systems, assist with troubleshooting and system improvements, and collaborate with users and vendors to support the agency's operational needs. Minimum QualificationsSix years of experience in information technology; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in information technology; OR
An associate's degree in information technology plus four years of experience in information technology; OR
A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in information technology; OR
A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus three years of experience in information technology; OR
A master's degree plus three years of experience in information technology.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NOTE:
A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:
As an
IT Applications Specialist 1/2 in the Office of Management & Finance/Information Technology Division, you will/may:
- Assist with the development, maintenance, and support of agency applications and information systems.
- Troubleshoot application issues and provide technical support to users to ensure efficient system operation.
- Work with agency staff and vendors to identify business and technical needs and assist in developing technology solutions.
- Participate in testing, debugging, implementation, and documentation of application system changes and enhancements.
- Monitor applications and systems to help ensure functionality, reliability, and data integrity.
- Research and evaluate system issues, recommend solutions, and assist with implementing improvements.
- Maintain documentation, user guides, and records related to applications, system changes, and support activities.
- Assist with database maintenance, data validation, and related system processes as needed.
- Communicate professionally with users, vendors, and IT staff regarding system functionality, troubleshooting, and project updates.
- Participate in training and ongoing learning related to application systems, software tools, and technology best practices.
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Career Progression: This position may be filled as an IT Applications Specialist 1 or 2, depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
