What are technical recruiters?

Technical recruiters are specialized professionals who identify, attract, and hire candidates for technical positions, such as software engineers, IT specialists, and data scientists. They work closely with hiring managers to understand job requirements and use their industry knowledge to source qualified candidates. Technical recruiters screen resumes, conduct interviews, and guide candidates through the hiring process, ensuring a good fit for both the company and the applicant. They often work for staffing agencies or within the human resources departments of tech companies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Technical Recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Technical Recruiter, you need a solid understanding of technical roles, sourcing strategies, and recruitment processes, often supported by a degree in HR, business, or a related field. Job description

About the role...

ShopMy is looking for a Senior Manager to join our Talent Acquisition team to build and scale a best-in-class recruiting function for our Product & Engineering organization. This role sits at the intersection of talent, strategy, and execution - responsible not only for delivering exceptional hires, but for shaping how we identify, attract, and close top technical talent in a highly competitive market.

You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to deeply understand hiring needs, raise the bar on talent, and design systems that scale with the business. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, brings strong judgment on talent, and is motivated by building from the ground up.

Roles and responsibilities...

  • Own end-to-end hiring for Product, Engineering, and Design roles, from intake to close
  • Partner with leadership to define hiring strategy, headcount planning, and role scoping
  • Build and execute proactive sourcing strategies, through LinkedIn and other outreach tools, to attract top-tier technical talent, with a focus on quality over volume.
  • Develop and continuously refine recruiting processes to ensure speed, rigor, and an exceptional candidate experience
  • Act as a strategic advisor to hiring managers on talent market dynamics, compensation, and candidate calibration
  • Drive high-quality assessment and interview practices to maintain a consistently high hiring bar
  • Build and manage a small but high-performing team of technical recruiters over time
  • Establish reporting, pipelines, and systems that provide visibility into hiring performance and bottlenecks

Qualifications

  • Proven track record hiring high-caliber technical talent across Engineering, Product, and Design in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong talent judgment - you know what excellence looks like and consistently raise the bar
  • Familiarity with technical domains and ability to engage credibly with Engineering, Product, and Design candidates
  • Extensive network within Engineering, Product, and Design talent markets, with the ability to proactively leverage and expand it
  • High ownership and accountability; you take responsibility for hiring outcomes end-to-end
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills; able to partner with and challenge senior leaders
  • Strong sourcing capabilities, with creativity and persistence in reaching passive candidates
  • Data-driven mindset; comfortable using metrics to inform decisions and continuously improve processes
  • Strong sense of urgency without sacrificing quality
  • Experience implementing or optimizing ATS and recruiting tools
  • Deep alignment with a high-performance, builder-oriented culture
