Job description

Healthcare Technical Project Manager

A Houston area non-profit organization is searching for an experienced Healthcare Technical Project Manager to join their team. This position requires 2+ years of hands-on experience driving healthcare integration projects (HL7 v2 and v3) with internal and external stakeholders, focused primarily on Participant onboarding and Tier 1 Production Support.

The candidate will be a member of a small agile team that values quality and dedication. This position will require you to collaborate with other members of the development team, account management, business development, and our platform vendor, InterSystems. As a member of the team, the candidate will interact with all stakeholders of the business, including Participants, management, vendors, and non-technical staff.

This position will require the candidate to work with Participants from kick-off of technical implementation to completion to ensure implementation deadlines are met, key implementation requirements are included, and communication is established and continued throughout implementation and hand-off to support status.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Serve as the primary technical point of contact for Participants, fostering strong, long-term relationships.

2. Act as a liaison between Participants and internal teams to ensure coordinated communication and aligned expectations.

3. Support Participants throughout the full implementation lifecycle, including:

  • Initiating implementation with EMR vendors and submitting required tickets.
  • Aligning expectations among Development, Participant EMR teams, and Participant staff prior to kickoff.
  • Maintaining active communication with EMR teams to ensure timely and minimally disruptive implementations.
  • Monitoring Development milestones and ensuring timely completion of key checkpoints.

4. Configure and maintain VPN connectivity to send and receive HL7 v2 (ADT, ORU, MDM) messages by coordinating with Participant network teams and InterSystems.

5. Establish and maintain HL7 v3 (CCD) connectivity, including collecting and managing X.509 certificates and facilitating timely certificate renewals.

6. Develop and maintain documentation for projects, processes, and internal/external reference.

7. Manage and track tickets and issues in Jira and InterSystems TrakCare to support project oversight and Development workflows.

8. Troubleshoot and resolve minor technical issues within InterSystems, including:

  • Monitoring ADT, ORU, MDM, and CCD interfaces
  • Performing ADT/ORU/MDM interface builds
  • Updating HL7 v2 codesets and handling Participant code requests
  • Conducting Clinical Viewer searches as needed

9. Route inquiries from Participants, EMR contacts, and internal teams to the appropriate subject-matter experts to ensure timely and accurate responses.

Houston, TX candidates or those willing to relocate will be considered.

This position requires 2+ years of hands-on experience managing complex healthcare integration projects with internal and external stakeholders.

Experience with InterSystems HealthShare and Jira is preferred.
