Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, release, and integration of automotive suspension control electronic hardware/software components and assemblies
  • Oversee the full development cycle to ensure that components and systems meet or exceed targets for design, performance, cost, weight, quality, and manufacturability
  • Ensure all engineering deliverables within the Global Product Development System are completed on time and with excellence.
  • Communicate product design status and progress to all levels of the organization.
  • Oversee prototype builds and coordinate cross-functional activities to support program timing.
  • Collaborate with core product engineering and CAD teams to develop and release engineering drawings that fully meet customer and internal requirements
  • Work closely with the Test amp; Validation team to plan, execute, and document validation testing to demonstrate compliance with internal and external specifications
  • Provide product engineering expertise to support quality investigations, supplier development, and manufacturing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead and champion cost reduction and supply chain resiliency activities, including coordinating meetings, conducting validation testing, and managing change implementation
  • Ensure timely problem-solving and reporting for quality and technical issues
  • Ensure proper development and tracking of required documentation for design changes, engineering permits, validation testing, product change methodology sheets, and specification updates.
  • Issue customer and management status reports as necessary
  • Support ISO 26262 System Safety Process
  • Support Automotive SPICE-compliant software development processes
  • Support vehicle application and calibration development
  • Contribute to vehicle and functional software issue resolution
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global automotive standards and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with BWI’s Global Suspension control systems team to align system, hardware and software development approaches across multiple sites (Brighton, China, Paris, Dayton, and Krakow)
Required Skills amp; Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (EE, ME or CSE preferred)
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in embedded control system development
  • Knowledge of C/C++ programming language
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering concepts including embedded microcontroller software/controls
  • Excellent analytical / problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work with team members of other disciplines or departments
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with common computer applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently as well as in a team environment
Preferred Skills amp; Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Knowledge of Mathworks Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow
  • Familiarity with data acquisition instrumentation concepts
  • Able to read and understand engineering prints/drawings
  • Familiarity with passive dampers, semi-active dampers, or pneumatic / hydraulic vehicle lift systems
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, especially involving electronic assemblies
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD (SolidWorks, UG, Catia), geometric tolerance (GD amp;T), and statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle dynamics principals
  • Experience with Brake, Suspension, or Vehicle Control systems
  • Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols (e.g., CAN, FlexRay, Ethernet)
  • Knowledge of debugging, testing, and verification techniques
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262 System Safety Concepts
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Cradle, Doors, Windchill
  • Experience with software test tools such as Vector CANalyzer, CANape, CANoe
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR
TRAVEL REQUIRED (%):
gt;25% travel to meet customers and suppliers with day travel to the various manufacturing facilities as required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Ability to use and understand Windows Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint, Microsoft (email). This is additional to the computer skill requirements as stated in the requirement qualifications.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Able to read and understand engineering prints/drawings. Good level of analytical skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to work on a team. Ability to guide the efforts of support personnel. Good teambuilding skills.
