RESPONSIBILITIES

Preconstruction

  • Assist the Business Developer in understanding the customer's vision for each project
  • Collaborate with the project team to create comprehensive business strategies aligned with project goals
  • Assist in selecting design professionals tailored to specific project requirements for optimal outcomes
  • Ensure thorough critique of every project estimate by knowledgeable peers within the construction group


Manage Project Design

  • Provide leadership in creating project estimates and the technical aspects of proposals
  • Contribute to strategy development for all project estimates to align with objectives
  • Lead or assist in preparing "scope of work" for vendor solicitation
  • Manage the creation of conceptual and detailed estimates, along with technical specifications for project proposals
  • Oversee bid analysis and ensure selected bids cover project scope before contracting
  • Direct the project design team effectively


Project Execution

  • Meet or exceed customer expectations while achieving company benchmarks and upholding Corporate Beliefs
  • Monitor project profitability, notifying managers of significant changes (+/-) promptly
  • Delegate specific project responsibilities to team members, ensuring effective execution
  • Prepare a list of project responsibilities for clear task assignment
  • Negotiate and document vendor/subcontracts agreements efficiently
  • Ensure completion of all construction drawings (seek input from Superintendent)
  • Provide project forecast updates in Viewpoint monthly at a minimum.
  • Monitor project cost variances and inform relevant stakeholders, researching cost-effective solutions
  • Manage overall project profitability in collaboration with the project Superintendent
  • Facilitate client and subcontractor meetings, maintaining meeting notes and agendas
  • Build and nurture client relationships for project success
  • Mentor and train subordinates to enhance team performance
  • Participate in sales strategy sessions to support project goals
  • Continuously seek cost-saving and process improvement strategies for project efficiency
  • Capably handle multiple projects and estimates simultaneously, leveraging Procore for comprehensive project management
  • Create and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project for effective time management
  • Effectively leverage the time of Supervisor/Superintendent for optimal project execution
  • Enforce the highest safety standards on all projects and with all direct reports to maintain a secure working environment

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • ~4-7 years of internal or external experience in a similar role or education equivalent. Specialized expertise in multiple systems, processes, and market sectors
  • Education or Education Equivalent: 4-year degree in Engineering, Construction, or Architecture from an accredited College or University. Other related degrees accepted if supported by construction-oriented coursework or relevant experience
  • Demonstrates exceptional proficiency in complex systems, processes, and market sectors; oversees work execution of varying size and complexity with support; mentors and trains others effectively; manages cross-functional teams
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, as well as estimating and project management utilizing cost accounting software (Viewpoint preferred) and Procore
  • Capable of training and advising others effectively
  • Quick to grasp new systems, processes, or market sectors
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills with diverse teams
  • Individual Contributor with Training and Advisory responsibilities
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate effectively with diverse audiences through various mediums, including written reports, business correspondence, and presentations
  • Proficiency in numerical calculations, including discounts, percentages, and basic algebraic concepts
  • Capacity to analyze problems, gather data, and make informed decisions based on factual evidence, while also interpreting technical instructions
