Job Description:
HHSC has issued a request for a Technical Project Lead to support a data engineering project within an AI adoption program, working alongside a Technical Project Manager to coordinate delivery across business, engineering, analytics, and platform teams. This role is built around managing scope, milestones, dependencies, reporting, and cross-functional execution for data architecture, data warehousing, analytics, and cloud-based initiatives in a healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive project leadership experience in data and analytics programs, enough technical depth to work with data engineers and architects, and the ability to manage healthcare data, cloud, and AI-related workstreams.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Support a Technical Project Manager by coordinating deliverables, dependencies, and execution across data engineering, analytics, cloud, and AI adoption workstreams.
- Manage project scope, milestones, timelines, budgets, reporting, and documentation for data architecture, data warehousing, and healthcare data initiatives.
- Work across business, engineering, and technical stakeholders to keep planning, estimation, issue resolution, and communication aligned throughout the project lifecycle.
Minimum Candidate Characteristics:
- 10+ years leading technical projects or programs in data, analytics, cloud, data architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing environments.
- 10+ years managing complex BI, big data, and analytics projects, including scope, objectives, milestones, timelines, budgeting, forecasting, resource planning, and financial reporting.
- 10+ years supporting healthcare data initiatives, using project tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, MS Project, or Smartsheet, with enough SQL and database knowledge to support planning and issue resolution.
Exceptional Candidate Characteristics:
- Experience with an HHS agency.
- Familiarity with healthcare or other regulated environments, including compliance, security, and data governance concepts.
- Healthcare industry experience and strong understanding of IT processes, SDLC, architecture, and enterprise technologies.
- Experience supporting AI, advanced analytics, or digital transformation initiatives, plus certifications such as PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, TOGAF, or cloud architecture credentials.
