Location: Phoenix, AZ Salary: $80.00 USD Hourly - $85.00 USD Hourly Description: Our client is currently seeking a Java Architect/ Technical Program Manager
Location: Phoenix, AZ or Southlake, TX (Hybrid - 4 days a week onsite)
Duration: 12 months with possibility of extension
Note: The interview process for this position will include a hands-on Java coding exercise.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of project or program management experience leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives.
Strong background in Java-based software development, including direct experience acting as a technical lead.
Experience overseeing the end-to-end planning, implementation, and delivery of complex business application components.
Deep knowledge and direct expertise with modern project management tools, methodologies, and best practices.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
Familiarity with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and modern integration patterns.
Experience partnering with DevOps to drive CI/CD pipeline robustness, containerization, deployment automation, and observability.

In this role, you will leverage your deep familiarity with application development-including architectural decision-making, dependency management, and risk mitigation-to advocate for technical strategy while ensuring alignment and smooth delivery. Responsibilities:
Lead the end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of complex software development programs, ensuring predictable timelines, high-quality outcomes, and clear ownership across workstreams.
Engage directly with development teams to guide system architecture, design, and integration points, providing technical direction rooted in strong Java engineering experience.
Identify technical risks early and proactively drive resolutions through collaboration with architects, developers, QA, SRE/DevOps, and partner teams.
Guide engineering teams through dependency management, component integration, environmental readiness, and continuous improvement around sprint execution and release management.
Collaborate with DevOps and platform engineering teams to support the adoption of cloud-native tooling, automated testing frameworks, and engineering workflow improvements.
Establish program dashboards, KPIs, and communication mechanisms to provide clear visibility to leadership and simplify collaboration with business owners, compliance, security, and infrastructure teams.
