Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility is looking to hire a full-time Training Specialist 1.
This person will be an integral part of onboarding new staff and training existing staff to ensure a quality workforce at MPCF. Typical Responsibilities of this Position Develop, design, plan and teach training programs and other courses as assigned; maintaining quality assurance and efficacy of programs. Acts as a training resource for management.
Ensure all staff have the opportunity to complete required "hands on" training. Ensure appropriate e-Learning modules are available to all staff while monitoring completion rates for each quarter. Review course critiques from trainees and revise courses as necessary.
Assist staff in enrolling in Iowa Learning Management classes. Schedule new employees for NET Training at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center and coordinate travel and transportation. Assists the FTO team with planning, teaching, evaluating and maintaining accurate training documentation for the Field Officer Training Program.
Serve as an auditor for the DRAOR (Dynamic Risk Assessment for Offender Re-Entry) process. Preferred Characteristics of the Training Specialist 1 Understand the principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems. Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
Good listening skills understanding information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Ability to teach and train in a group setting or in a one-on-one consultation. Knowledge of different training and instructional methods appropriate for a given situation and the willingness to learn new teaching and training methods.
Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each employee and understanding alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Minimum Qualification Requirements Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification. Four years of full-time work experience in professional training, teaching, course development, facilitation, or counseling within an educational setting; professional human resources administration including such areas as job analysis, performance appraisal, selection devices, or labor relations; or a technical program area utilized by the employing agency. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field.
A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes three years of full-time work as described in number one.
