Description
The Director of Physical and Technical Security is responsible for the strategic leadership, design, implementation, and oversight of enterprise-wide physical and technical security programs supporting corporate facilities, cleared government sites, and mission-critical environments. This role ensures compliance with federal security regulations while protecting personnel, facilities, information, and assets across domestic and international operations. The Director serves as the subject matter expert for physical security systems, technical surveillance countermeasures, access control, and facility protection programs while leading security teams and coordinating closely with government customers, internal stakeholders, and executive leadership.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute enterprise physical and technical security strategies aligned with corporate risk posture and government contract requirements.
  • Advise executive leadership on threat environments, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as the senior authority for physical and technical security policy, standards, and governance.

Physical Security Operations
  • Oversee access control systems, perimeter security, intrusion detection, video surveillance, alarm monitoring, and guard force operations.
  • Ensure compliance with ICD 705, DoDM 5200.01, NISPOM, and agency-specific security directives.
  • Support the accreditation and ongoing compliance of SCIFs, SAPFs, and other controlled facilities.

Technical Security
  • Lead oversight of technical security systems including IDS, CCTV, electronic access control, badging, and visitor management systems.
  • Coordinate technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM) and vulnerability assessments as required.
  • Ensure secure integration of physical security technologies with IT and cyber security teams.

Risk Management & Compliance
  • Conduct security risk assessments, site surveys, and vulnerability analyses.
  • Develop corrective action plans and track remediation efforts.
  • Prepare and maintain security documentation, audits, and compliance reporting.

People & Program Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop security managers, site security leads, and technical security personnel.
  • Manage security budgets, vendor contracts, and system procurements.
  • Support contract transition planning, startup security requirements, and steady-state operations.

Stakeholder & Government Coordination
  • Act as primary liaison with government security officials, contracting officers, and customer representatives.
  • Support incident response, investigations, and reporting in coordination with leadership and government stakeholders.
  • Provide security briefings and executive-level reporting.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of successful leadership in business development, capture, or proposal management within federal contracting, commercial services, or both.
  • Proven success winning multi-million-dollar contracts in one or more of the following areas: security services, IT solutions, IC solutions, or construction/manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of the federal acquisition lifecycle, FAR/DFARS, and government proposal requirements.
  • Experience with SLED or commercial procurement models is preferred.
  • Excellent executive-level verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility; an active clearance is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field required; an advanced degree or BD/capture certifications (e.g., CF APMP, Shipley) is preferred.
