The Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) software department within Raytheon is looking for a Release Train Engineer (RTE) for the X-Band Radar (XBR) software team. The department's mission is to provide world class Missile Defense and Surveillance Radar Software to be used in radar systems deployed on land and sea. Our software teams employ Agile Scrum and DevSecOps processes to rapidly design, code, and integrate capabilities on a continuous basis into a mature solution for our customers.
This role supports the Systems, Software, and Integration & Test Engineering departments. These departments provide subject matter expertise for concept development, architectural design, requirements generation & flow-down, modeling and simulation, systems analysis, software development, integration, test, and evaluation of world-class, Missile Defense & Sensor Systems to be achieved through our people, processes, technology, and performance.
This is an onsite role in Woburn, MA.
What You Will Do
  • As a Release Train Engineer (RTE), you will be working as part of an agile engineering team alongside the Chief Product Owner (CPO), Cross Product Team (CPT) leads, and the agile team Product Owners (PO). The RTE is a servant-based leader and coach for the ART.
  • Identify and escalate blockers to upper-level leadership, facilitate barrier removal for the ART.
  • Improve team agile execution by implementing process improvement opportunities and data driven decisions for better performance.
  • Ensure that the agile teams follow established processes and agile methodologies.
  • Schedule and drive coordination of agile team scrum masters (Scrum of Scrums).
  • Ensure team product owners are establishing effective scope definitions, including clear acceptance criteria for team products and services.
  • Participate in increment planning and review events in a scaled agile team environment.
  • Ensure team sprint plans and day-to-day execution are aligned with program and customer priorities.
  • Partner closely with the key stakeholders to ensure on time delivery of team products and services that meet agreed acceptance criteria.
  • Identify and track internal and external dependencies required to deliver products and services.
  • Assist in coaching Agile team execution processes and mentoring team Agile leaders.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience in the field of Engineering, including any of the following: System Requirements definition and analysis, System Test and Analysis, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Software Development, Software Test and Analysis working with MATLAB, C/C++, Ada, Java or DOORS.
  • Experience with Agile principles and methodologies.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government-issued Interim Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • SAFe Scrum Master, Release Train Engineer certification or related industry certification.
  • Experience on XBR, AN/TPY-2, COBRA DANE, QEWR, UEWR, SRP or radar data processing domain knowledge.
  • Experience with communicating and coordinating across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with agile management and engineering tools (Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Azure, Jenkins, Coverity, etc.).
  • Experience as a Scrum Master or Product Owner.
  • Experience with running or attending Agile ceremonies (daily scrum, monthly planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives).
  • Experience with Software Development, requirements development and analysis, or system integration and testing.
  • Experience working on or leading a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience with interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with coworkers, suppliers, management, and customers in a team environment.
  • Experience contributing in a team environment for the purpose of developing creative solutions to technical problems.
  • Experience with Project Management.
  • Experience making data-driven decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements and competing priorities.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
