Job Purpose The Technical Program Manager owns the planning and coordination of hardware programs focused on our additive technology and other traditionally manufactured power generation components.
As a Technical Program Manager Intern, your daily responsibilities often include organizing and tracking project tasks, assisting with status meetings, updating project documentation, and communicating progress to team members and supervisors. You may also help identify project dependencies or risks and facilitate collaboration among software engineers, designers, and other stakeholders. Many interns get exposure to Agile ceremonies like stand-ups, sprint planning, or retrospectives, offering valuable experience in real-world program management practices. This role provides hands-on learning in both technical and organizational aspects of leading successful tech projects.
To thrive as a Technical Program Manager Intern, you need a background in computer science or a related field, foundational project management knowledge, and the ability to understand technical concepts. Familiarity with project management tools like Jira or Asana, version control systems such as Git, and basic understanding of Agile or Scrum methodologies is often expected. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills help you effectively coordinate between engineering teams and stakeholders. These skills are essential for ensuring projects stay on track, technical requirements are met, and collaboration is seamless in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
A Technical Program Manager (TPM) Intern works on planning, executing, and managing technical projects within an organization. They collaborate with engineering, product, and design teams to ensure project goals align with business objectives and are delivered on time. Responsibilities often include defining project timelines, identifying risks, and facilitating communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders. TPM interns gain experience in Agile methodologies, stakeholder management, and technical problem-solving. The role requires a mix of technical knowledge, organizational skills, and strategic thinking to drive successful project outcomes.
