Job Scope


The Technical Coordinator role combines maintenance planning with purchasing responsibilities to ensure technicians have the needed components/parts, materials, and information needed to keep production running efficiently. This role acts as a key link between maintenance, production, inventory, and vendors. This role is critical to ensure production flows efficiently; problems are addressed proactively, and resources are aligned with demand—directly impacting profitability and customer satisfaction.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create, assign, and prioritize maintenance work orders.
  • Schedule preventive maintenance (PM) to minimize production disruption and track compliance and overdue work.
  • Balance emergency repairs with scheduled maintenance.
  • Monitor work order completion and close-out.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update asset information and maintenance history.
  • Coordinate equipment inspections.
  • Assist in root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures.
  • Plan daily and weekly maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate equipment and plant shutdowns and planned outages.
  • Ensure labor, parts, and tools are available before work begins.
  • Maintain equipment files, manuals, and drawings.
  • Track warranties and service contracts.
  • Purchase maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) supplies.
  • Source replacement parts, tools, lubricants, and consumables while maintaining accurate spare parts inventory while ensuring critical spare parts remain in stock. Standardize commonly used parts.
  • Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers.
  • Issue purchase orders and track open purchase orders.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing, delivery, and payment terms.
  • Evaluate supplier performance while following up on late deliveries and ensuring parts arrive before scheduled repairs.
  • Coordinate emergency orders when needed and reduce expedited shipping costs through better planning.
  • Establish minimum and maximum stock levels while reducing obsolete and excess inventory.
  • Conduct cycle counts and inventory audits.
  • Monitor maintenance spending against budget while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Communicate maintenance schedules with production supervisors.
  • Coordinate contractor visits.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of direct experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in blow molding, is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience with CMMS software (e.g., Fiix, MPulse, Maintenance Connection, SAP PM)
  • 3-5 years of experience with ERP/MRP systems is required
  • 3+ years of purchasing and inventory management, is required
  • 3+ years of experience working with vendors and negotiating terms is required
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, is highly desired but not required.
  • 3+ years of experience with lean manufacturing principles is highly desired
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong data-driven decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (tracking, reporting, analysis)
  • Effective communication across the manufacturing environment and leadership teams
