Job Summary

The Operations Manager oversees all operations activities at the Phoenix facility, including the Cast House, Extrusion, Fabrication, and Maintenance departments. With a minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in a unionized manufacturing environment, this role focuses on optimizing staffing, productivity, quality, and cost efficiency in alignment with company goals. The position emphasizes continuous improvement, preventive maintenance, workplace safety, and ISO/IATF compliance. The Operations Manager also collaborates with Sales on production planning and manages departmental budgets and procurement activities. This position reports to the Plant Manager.

What you will be doing

  • Ensure personal health, safety, and security while actively contributing to the creation of a safe and healthy work environment in alignment with the company's safety and environmental goals.
  • Oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations, including production, packing, production control, and maintenance.
  • Manage day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient production flow and optimal resource utilization.
  • Evaluate and manage staffing levels, quality, delivery performance, production    output, packing, production control, and maintenance activities.
  • Foster collaboration across departments to promote continuous improvement through effective process development and procedural enhancements.
  • Work closely with Sales and Production teams to coordinate production planning and ensure alignment with customer demand and operational capacity.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure effective preventive maintenance programs are in place and that environmental controls are continuously improved.  

What will make you successful?

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field, or the equivalent of at least ten (10) years of relevant experience and training.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in a unionized manufacturing environment, preferably within the metals manufacturing industry.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of ISO/IATF standards and regulations.
  • Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical and regulatory documents.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, including probability, statistics, and geometry.
  • Proven ability to evaluate production methods and drive improvements through training and process optimization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience managing complex variables in environments with limited standardization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
