OVERVIEW

The Operations Training Specialist is responsible for the creation, coordination, deployment, and assessment of technical and operational training across site to build employee competency and capability.  The Operations Training Specialist role trains and coaches production line/area based trainers to deliver on-the-job training (OJT) to new employees, as well as delivers refresher training and training for new equipment and processes to production employees.  This role spends significant time engaged with our production floor operators and must create training delivery tools that ensure each person receives Safety, Food Quality, and operational excellence training. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partnering with Operations subject matter experts (SME) to develop standard operating procedures ("Work Instructions)"
  • Partnering with Operational Managers to design and develop, and support delivery and evaluation of technical training programs around Packaging, Process, and Maintenance. 
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development (L&D), site SMEs, and stakeholders to create interactive, accessible training in multiple formats including written SOPs, PowerPoint with photos and annotations, and video with annotations that achieve a consistent delivery of information.
  • Deliver Train the Trainer training courses and on-going coaching support to operators providing OJT to new employees
  • Audit, spot check, and rectify compliance gaps on work instructions and training material where identified
  • In partnership with L&D, ensure consistency of application of training across the business and maintain alignment with corporate learning strategy.
  • Understand and support individual development needs and plans where required by Operations
  • Assist with the implementation of CAPEX projects in relation to timetables of training, familiarization and learning curves.  This could require the role to travel to the equipment manufacturer for training and the capture of training materials.
  • Develop effective relationships with the L&D and HR teams, specifically in relation to on-boarding and performance assessment of new employees
  • Drive continuous improvement in all Technical Learning & Development processes
  • Understand, use, and support end-users of the company's Learning Management System (SuccessFactors)
  • This position requires the flexibility to work various shifts, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and overtime, as needed. Weekend shifts may be mandated based on business needs.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Suitable relevant industry experience essential
  • 5-8 years professional experience.
  • Training or manufacturing experience preferred  

 EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • ATD certification preferred
  • Six Sigma background preferred
  • Instructional Design background preferred

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Relevant industry experience
  • Good understanding of relevant Health & Safety legislation and regulations
  • Detailed experience or relevant work processes and safe use of equipment
  • Strong relationship building and excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on own initiative, to tight deadlines in a demanding environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Salary Range: $68,000.00k-$126,000.00k 

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
