Technical Implementation Project Manager information

What does a technical implementation project manager do?

A Technical Implementation Project Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of technology solutions within an organization. They work closely with clients, stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. Their responsibilities include defining project requirements, managing resources, mitigating risks, and ensuring smooth integration of new systems. They also serve as the main point of contact between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.

How does a technical implementation project manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during a project?

A Technical Implementation Project Manager works closely with cross-functional teams, such as software developers, QA engineers, business analysts, and client representatives, to ensure project requirements are clearly communicated and technical solutions align with client needs. They facilitate regular meetings, coordinate task assignments, and proactively address potential challenges to keep the project on track. Effective communication and stakeholder management are key, as the role often involves translating technical details for non-technical team members and vice versa. This collaborative approach helps ensure successful, timely delivery of complex technical solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a technical implementation project manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Technical Implementation Project Manager, you need solid project management expertise, a background in information technology or engineering, and often a relevant certification like PMP or Prince2. Familiarity with project management software (such as Jira or MS Project), systems integration tools, and documentation platforms is typically required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills distinguish top performers in this role. These abilities are crucial for coordinating complex technical projects, ensuring timely delivery, and aligning technical solutions with business objectives.

TELUS Health is empowering every person to live their healthiest life. Guided by our vision, we are leveraging the power of our leading edge technology and focusing on the uniqueness of each individual to create the future of health. As a global-leading health and well-being provider - encompassing physical, mental and financial health - TELUS Health is improving health outcomes for consumers, patients, healthcare professionals, employers and employees.

Join our team and what we'll accomplish together
At TELUS Health, we're reimagining how pension and benefits solutions are delivered. Our teams are shifting toward a product-led, multi-client delivery model-and we need someone who can bring clarity, momentum, and accountability to complex delivery at scale.
As a Senior Technical Project Manager, you'll be the connective tissue between product vision, engineering execution, and client success. You'll lead high-impact programs across platform enhancements, multi-client deployments, and technical initiatives-all while championing new ways of working that make delivery faster, smarter, and more predictable.
This role offers the unique opportunity to shape how TELUS Health delivers at scale-influencing product roadmaps, release strategies, and team practices that directly impact millions of Canadians and their retirement security. What you'll do

Lead end-to-end product program delivery

  • Own complex product programs from initiation through post-launch, managing platform enhancements and multi-client deployments with clear outcomes

  • Orchestrate release planning, rollout strategies, and delivery milestones that align product roadmaps with client commitments

  • Balance multiple concurrent initiatives, dependencies, and competing priorities with discipline and transparency

Orchestrate cross-functional execution

  • Partner across Product, Engineering, DevOps, QA, Data, Implementation, and delivery teams-acting as the central point of accountability

  • Lead governance forums, alignment sessions, and delivery checkpoints that keep teams moving together

  • Influence and align stakeholders without direct authority-a critical skill in our collaborative environment

Drive technical readiness and continuous improvement

  • Manage technical risks: integrations, APIs, data migrations, and environment readiness

  • Promote Agile, DevOps, and continuous delivery practices that improve speed, quality, and predictability

  • Identify opportunities to standardize processes, reduce bottlenecks, and elevate delivery excellence across teams

Enable smarter delivery through data and AI

  • Provide data-driven reporting to leadership-progress, risks, trade-offs, and decisions required

  • Champion the practical adoption of AI-enabled tools for planning, risk identification, and delivery insights

  • Turn delivery data into actionable intelligence that improves team effectiveness

What you bring

Essential experience:

  • 5+ years managing technical projects, product programs, or platform delivery initiatives

  • Proven track record delivering SaaS, product, or technology-enabled solutions

  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery, DevOps practices, release planning, and technical dependencies

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority

  • Strong communication, governance, and risk management skills

  • Comfort operating in complex, fast-paced environments with multiple priorities and competing stakeholder interests

Nice to have:

  • Experience in pension, benefits, health, financial services, or regulated delivery environments

  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar delivery management tools

  • Bilingual English/French capability

Why TELUS Health? You'll work alongside product leaders, engineers, and client-success teams who are genuinely excited about transforming how benefits and pension solutions are delivered. We invest in your growth, encourage innovation, and create space for you to build delivery practices that will scale across the organization.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $105,000

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply, even if the posted salary range doesn't match your expectations. We're open to discussing competitive compensation packages tailored to your experience level and expertise.

TELUS Health offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:

  • Comprehensive total rewards package highlighting competitive salary and bonus structures, minimum 3 weeks of vacation, and flexible benefits plan to meet the needs of you and your family

  • Flexibility to work in-office, virtually or a combination of both

  • Generous company matched pension

  • Opportunity to give back to communities in which we work, live and serve

  • Career growth and learning & development opportunities to develop your skills

Job Type: This is for a current vacancy.

What makes this different:
  • Impact: Your work directly improves how millions of Canadians manage their retirement and benefits

  • Growth: You'll shape delivery practices and processes that become the standard across TELUS Health

  • Collaboration: You'll work with talented, mission-driven teams across product, technology, and client delivery

  • Data-driven: We believe in transparency, reporting, and making decisions backed by evidence
