Engineer, Engineer Associate, or Engineer Representative - Distribution Engineering (Work location: Canton, GA) - 1 Vacancy
Georgia Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, is currently seeking an Engineer, Engineering Associate or Engineering Representative for the Canton distribution team (one position). 
The positions listed below is to be filled as an Engineer, Engineering Associate or Engineering Representative depending on the skills, education and experience qualifications of the successful candidate. 
Work Location: Engineer, Engineer Associate or Engineering Rep is to be assigned to projects supporting the Canton headquarters. 
Candidate must currently live within a reasonable, daily commuting distance to the selected area OR be willing to immediately relocate to be within commuting distance. Relocation assistance may be available if needed. 
JOB SUMMARY 
This position will be required to engineering work activities supporting the headquarters. Responsibilities include design, estimating, and coordinating construction for multiple overhead and underground construction projects. Candidate must provide superior customer service and Project Management skills and be able to prepare and schedule construction of jobs to meet committed service dates. Candidate will write and execute switching orders to effectively maintain, operate, and assist in the distribution planning of the system for reliability. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for processing all documentation in accordance with Compliance requirements. Candidate will also participate in the on-call trouble supervision rotation and must be available after business hours for local, out-of-town, and out-of-state trouble and storm restoration. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS  
Education and Experience for an Engineer, Engineer Associate, or Engineer Representative - position: 

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (From ABET Accredited School) OR  

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology OR  

Bachelor's Degree in Math or Science OR  

Professional Engineer's License (PE) in lieu of the above bachelor's degree  

Previous Distribution Engineering Experience is a plus  

Distribution and or related Engineering experience with a power utility company is a plus Education and Experience for an Engineer Representative position:  

A two-year technical degree, OR four-year degree in a non-technical field, OR EUT Certificate with two years of utility experience is preferred but not required.  

Previous Distribution Engineering Experience is a plus  

Distribution and or related Engineering experience with a power utility company is a plus 
 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
Proficient with MS office products and other related engineering Software systems highly desired. 
Strong Technical Engineering Skills and understanding of Power Systems are highly desired 
Candidate should possess knowledge of general engineering and construction principles. 
Knowledge of electrical system operations, distribution systems, underground and overhead construction practices.  
Prior experience in writing and executing switching orders preferred. 
Working knowledge of ARMS, JETS, GIS, Socket, DistView, TCMS Web, NJUNS is preferred 
Knowledge of the Distribution Bulletins, Engineering Handbook/Specifications, Distribution Operating Procedures, ARC Flash Requirements, Metering Blue Book, Consistency Manual and the Financial and Business goals preferred 
Ability to prioritize and organize work to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines. 
Excellent project management skills that lead to desired results. 
Ability to work with customers and others as a team-member.  
Must be able to effectively communicate and build positive relationships with customers (governing authority representatives), engineers, corporate partners and line crew personnel.  
Effective oral and written communication skills.

This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle.  The following will be required if you are selected for this position:

Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver's license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver's license).

Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
