Starting salary for Engineer Intern: $31.20-$46.81 (depending on experience)
Starting salary for Professional Engineer: $40.28-$60.43 (depending on experience)

About this Position
The Project Engineer or Engineer Intern (EI) will perform highly responsible professional engineering work in designing and supervising the construction and maintenance of roads, utilities, general construction, and capital improvement projects. They will also serve as a technical resource to other City departments on various aspects of projects.
Qualifications (Engineer Intern)
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Oklahoma State Engineer Intern certification (or be currently obtaining)
  • 2 years of related experience and/or training
    • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year of management experience
    • People and/or project management
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier

Qualifications (Professional Engineer)
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Oklahoma State Professional Engineer License
  • 5 years of related experience and/or training
    • Roadway design experience (preferred)
    • Bridge design experience (preferred)
    • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4 years of management experience
    • People and/or project management
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier

Responsibilities (the Engineer Intern will assist with these duties under supervision)
  • Assist in hiring, contracting, and managing design consultants for the preparation of design criteria, specifications, plans, etc.
  • Perform a variety of field surveys, investigations, and data compilations
  • Provide technical and administrative assistance to other divisions
  • Perform reviews of bridge, roadway, utility, commercial site plan, residential subdivision, and other engineering designs
  • Confer with management to inform them about projects and gain their support
  • Make recommendations to assist management
  • Respond to citizen complaints and requests
  • Attend site visits and various group meetings
  • Represent the Engineering Department at various City meetings
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
