The Opportunity

JLL's Global Controllership team is seeking a Director of Technical Accounting to provide thought leadership on complex and technical accounting issues and serve as a subject matter resource to influence business decisions through technical accounting impacts. In this position, you will research, analyze, and conclude on technical accounting topics, with a core focus of capturing and maximizing value to our organization. In addition, this role will:

  • Drive consistency of accounting policy implementation globally
  • Build U.S. GAAP understanding with stakeholders inside and outside of the Global Finance team
  • Establish and develop relationships within Finance globally

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to break down complex and non-routine technical accounting issues and work through analysis of issues
  • Support Corporate Development projects, including analysis of business combinations, joint ventures, and consolidation analyses
  • Review complex revenue contracts to drive consistency and process improvement
  • Contribute to SEC filing disclosures and the completion of the company's audit process
  • Support the annual goodwill impairment assessment
  • Review and update accounting policies and collaborate across the organization to implement policies or related materials (procedures, FAQs, etc.) to improve clarity and consistency
  • Monitor, assess, and support the implementation of new accounting pronouncements applicable to the company
  • Work in the fast-paced Global Controllership team with direct exposure to key leaders and executives
  • Participate in or lead special projects across the company, as needed

Qualifications

  • Command of accounting principles and ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) issues and their resolution to finance and business leadership
  • Exceptional research skills related to technical accounting concepts
  • Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills with the ability to build consensus in a collaborative setting
  • Effective time management skills and a proactive self-starter to operate in a constantly changing environment

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with 7+ years of experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • Proficiency in US GAAP
  • Experience performing in-depth accounting research and communicating findings and conclusions
  • Experience working with multinational corporations and SEC registrants

Estimated compensation for this position:

147,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
