To thrive as a Technical Authority, you need deep expertise in your technical field, strong problem-solving abilities, and typically a relevant degree or advanced certification. What are Technical Authorities?

Technical Authorities are experienced professionals who hold responsibility for ensuring that technical work within an organization meets defined standards and regulatory requirements. They provide expert guidance, approve technical solutions, and act as the final decision-makers on technical matters. Typically, Technical Authorities oversee compliance, mentor teams, and help manage risks associated with technical processes or products. Their role is crucial in industries like engineering, oil and gas, and IT, where adherence to technical standards is essential for safety and quality.

What are some common challenges Technical Authorities face when balancing technical standards with project timelines?

Technical Authorities often need to ensure that all technical standards, safety protocols, and quality requirements are strictly followed, which can sometimes conflict with tight project deadlines. Balancing these priorities requires strong communication and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders. It's important to advocate for best practices while remaining pragmatic about resource and time constraints. Successfully navigating this balance ensures both project success and long-term reliability of deliverables.

Job description

E-logic is appointing a Senior Technical Authority to step into a crucial dual-facing role. In addition to guiding executive engineering strategy, you will serve as the designated Escalation Contact for Wesley Community. This individual is the ultimate backstop for resolving critical, high-impact technical incidents and ensuring E-logic meets or exceeds its 1-hour critical system outage SLAs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Final Technical Authority: Act as the ultimate resolution point for critical network, cloud, or security incidents escalated beyond the Lead Engineer.
  • Incident Response Leadership: Spearhead investigation and reporting in the event of major cybersecurity anomalies, ensuring immediate 24-hour breach/incident notification protocols are flawlessly executed.
  • Architecture Validation: Review and approve complex network diagrams, administrative credential strategies, and disaster recovery plan documentation before delivery.
  • Client Trust: Interface directly with client COOs and executive boards during quarterly reviews or high-priority technical standoffs.

Qualifications

  • Top Secret Clearance is mandatory.
  • Experience: 10+ years in senior technical leadership roles (e.g., Director of Engineering, VP of Engineering, or CTO).
  • Expertise: Deep architectural fluency spanning enterprise cloud migrations, secure multi-site network topologies, and business continuity strategies.
  • Incident Management: Calm under fire; a proven track record of managing enterprise or organizational-level technical crises with rigid SLAs.
  • Compliance Mindset: Deep familiarity with data privacy laws, Cyber Liability Insurance compliance requirements, and government-grade security guidelines (NIST/CISA).

Important Notice:

This role is part of a proposal for Wesley Community. Hiring is contingent upon the selection of the consultant. Selected candidates will be included in the proposal and must authorize the use of their resume for submission.
