Position Summary

The Technical Assistant performs all support functions in the department to include transporting of patients, clerical file room, and reception duties under General supervision of the Radiology Support Services Supervisor, or lead technologist. The Technical Assistant may also assist the technical staff with direct patient care.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Perform imaging procedures of diagnostically acceptable quality to fulfill guidelines of department protocol:
Working with Documents and Records: Files, retrieves, processes radiology records / films; Demonstrates knowledge of clerical procedures; Retrieves films from storage facilities or locations.

Understanding and Following Directions: Follows instructions from supervisors or lead technologist; Demonstrates ability to solve problems or troubleshoot equipment; Transport patient as needed. 

Adhering to Policies and Regulations: Observes scheduled work hours and meal breaks; Maintains and demonstrates compliance with hospital Policies / Procedures (Attendance, dress codes); Attends in-services/department meetings; Demonstrates positive customer services skills.

Adapting to Changing Conditions: Follows through and completes job assignments; Accepts Changes in work method and conditions; Works effectively under pressure; Exercises initiative and self motivation to complete tasks.

Operating and Maintaining Office Equipment: Keeps work area neat and clean; Demonstrates ability to use computer systems; Able to change printer 
ribbons/toner cartridges.
 

Communicate and maintain proper relations personally and on the telephone with other Departments, Medical Center staff, M.D.'s and patient's families to ensure a proper guest relations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. .Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • 6 months of experience in a Radiology department clerical section.
  • Medical terminology class.
  • Technical skills to include basics keyboard operation for the computer, operating O2 tanks, and operating patient beds.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with others and demonstrate problem solving ability.
  • Prepares, processes, and according to written procedures "Numerical Filing System".

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) certification is required.
