Job Summary
The Senior Technology Specialist - IT will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise infrastructure environments across Unix/Linux operating systems, virtualization platforms, and storage technologies. This role supports critical business operations by ensuring the availability, security, scalability, and performance of infrastructure systems.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in Unix/Linux administration, virtualization technologies, storage management, automation, and infrastructure support. The role will work closely with application, DevOps, security, and infrastructure teams to support operational excellence, infrastructure modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
Unix/Linux Administration
  • Build, configure, administer, and maintain Unix/Linux server environments including RHEL and Solaris.
  • Perform operating system upgrades, patching, system hardening, and performance tuning.
  • Configure and manage storage provisioning, file systems, and shared resources.
  • Monitor system health and troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues.
  • Automate routine administrative tasks using Shell Scripting, Python, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
Hypervisor & Virtualization Management
  • Administer virtualization platforms including Red Hat OpenShift and KVM.
  • Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and capacity expansion initiatives.
  • Optimize virtual machine performance, resource utilization, and high-availability configurations.
  • Manage virtual networking, storage integration, snapshots, and backup solutions.
  • Ensure virtual environments comply with security, licensing, and operational standards.
  • Partner with application and DevOps teams to support containerized and hybrid infrastructure workloads.
Storage & Infrastructure Operations
  • Support enterprise storage environments and capacity planning activities.
  • Perform storage provisioning, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with replication, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Support infrastructure lifecycle management and operational stability initiatives.
Governance & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure services with business requirements.
  • Maintain system documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and support runbooks.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing across infrastructure teams.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in as pertains to job description
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong experience administering Unix/Linux environments, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Solaris.
  • Experience supporting virtualization technologies such as KVM and Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and security best practices.
  • Experience with backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience with enterprise storage technologies including EMC, NetApp, and Hitachi.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience leading infrastructure projects and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and operational best practices.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise production environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within cross-functional teams.
