The Impact You'll Make in this Role

TheSenior Manager, IT Digital Commercial Excellence serves as a key bridge between IT and the business, ensuring digital products, solutions, and capabilities are aligned with enterprise strategy and commercialization priorities. This role leads cross-functional collaboration to shape digital demand, prioritize initiatives, support product enablement and launch, and drive strategic growth through innovation.

The role acts as a trusted single point of contact for business stakeholders, translating business needs into scalable technology-enabled solutions from ideation through requirements, roadmap development, funding alignment, and delivery oversight. This leader partners closely with business, IT, and operating committee members to ensure digital investments deliver measurable business value, strong adoption, and improved market impact.

Key Responsibilities:Strategic Integration
  • Align digital commercialization efforts with organizational strategic goals to support cohesive growth and market presence.
  • Partner with business and IT leadership to integrate digital products into broader business strategies and ensure alignment with existing offerings and initiatives.
  • Develop and apply frameworks to assess the strategic impact of digital products on market position, competitiveness, and long-term business objectives.
  • Advocate for the value of digital products and capabilities across the organization, helping foster a culture of innovation and digital transformation.
Innovation and Growth
  • Identify, assess, and help develop new business opportunities, partnerships, and innovation pathways that expand the value and reach of digital products.
  • Contribute to growth strategy development through digital innovation, customer insight, and market-informed recommendations.
  • Evaluate emerging business needs and industry trends to inform future digital investments and priorities.
Product Development, Enablement, and Launch
  • Collaborate with product development and delivery teams to ensure digital solutions align with business requirements, customer expectations, and commercialization objectives.
  • Oversee planning and execution of product launches, including go-to-market coordination, readiness planning, and promotional support.
  • Develop sales enablement tools, training materials, and supporting resources to help commercial and business teams effectively position and sell digital products and services.
  • Ensure commercialization efforts are supported by strong business cases, appropriate sizing, and clear success metrics.
Stakeholder Engagement and Portfolio Leadership
  • Serve as the primary liaison between IT and the business group for digital commercialization and demand management activities.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders across business, division, area, and enterprise functions.
  • Own digital demand orchestration, prioritization, and roadmap development.
  • Drive prioritization decisions across functions and support funding allocation processes with operating committee members.
  • Partner with Division, Area, or EO leadership to shape project portfolios, oversee program delivery, and resolve escalated issues.
  • Partner with IT teams to improve solution delivery, optimize business processes, and advance productivity and automation objectives.
Primary Metrics

Success in this role may be measured by:

  • Percentage of projects requiring rework
  • Percentage adoption of newly developed capabilities within business groups
  • Percentage of projects accurately sized, budgeted, and supported by a robust business case at time of review
  • Business stakeholder satisfaction

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start).

  • Ten (10) years of leadership experience, including significant experience in cross-functional management roles in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Demonstrated ability to build credibility and trusted relationships with business leaders and serve as a single point of contact for business interactions.
  • Strong business analysis capabilities, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable projects from ideation through requirements definition.
  • Deep understanding of business strategy, priorities, operating models, and core business processes.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving business stakeholders, IT, product teams, and leadership.
  • Experience in portfolio prioritization, roadmap planning, and investment/funding alignment.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influence skills.
  • Demonstrated success in digital transformation, commercialization, product enablement, or strategic IT partnership roles.
  • Experience supporting digital product commercialization, go-to-market readiness, or product launch activities.
  • Knowledge of portfolio management, demand management, and business case development practices.
  • Experience working with senior leadership and operating committees on prioritization and funding decisions.
  • Familiarity with process optimization, automation, and productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to connect technology investments to measurable business outcomes.

  • This position has the possibility for remote work for candidates located more than 50-miles from to 3M Global Headquarters in St. Paul, MN. Employees located within a commutable distance to 3M Global Headquarters must work on-site at least 4 days per week
