Responsibilities

The Senior Vice President, Business Applications Leader is a senior technology executive responsible for leading the strategy, execution, and operations of enterprise systems that support core insurance functions. This role reports to the Chief Information Officer and is critical to enabling scalable growth, operational efficiency, and superior customer and agent experiences across the organization. 

This role will work closely with other IT leaders including the heads of Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture, and Information Security, and will operate within a central shared services model while collaborating with divisional CIOs to ensure alignment across business units. The SVP will also be responsible for cultivating and managing executive-level relationships across business and technology leadership to ensure strategic alignment and shared accountability.

Key functions include but are not limited to:

  • Define and execute the strategic roadmap for business applications aligned to enterprise goals
  • Lead modernization initiatives including cloud adoption, platform optimization, and automation
  • Oversee the full application portfolio (policy, billing, claims, CRM, portals, underwriting tools)
  • Drive large-scale transformation programs, system implementations, and integrations
  • Establish strong governance for project delivery, prioritization, and risk management
  • Ensure high performance, security, scalability, and reliability of critical systems
  • Lead and develop a high-performing global team (300+), fostering innovation and accountability
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Infrastructure, Architecture, Security) to align technology strategy
  • Build strong relationships with executive stakeholders and serve as a strategic advisor
  • Manage key vendor partnerships and ensure delivery against performance and business expectations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (Master's or MBA preferred).
  • 15+ years of experience in enterprise applications, with 5+ years in executive leadership roles.
  • Significant experience implementing and managing insurance policy, billing, and claims systems.
  • Proven success in managing large, distributed teams and multi-million-dollar budgets.
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance operations, regulatory requirements, and industry trends.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), microservices, APIs, and enterprise integration.
  • Demonstrated success working in a central shared services model and partnering with divisional CIOs.
  • Prior experience in organizational consolidation and enterprise harmonization initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills.
