About the Role

HUNT-EAS is seeking a Senior Technology Designer to join our collaborative and multidisciplinary team. In this role, you’ll plan, design, and specify a broad range of technology and communication infrastructure systems for projects across K–12 education, municipal, healthcare, multi-family housing, and higher education markets.


This team member will be deeply involved in project planning, budgeting, and construction coordination, working closely with both clients and internal design teams to deliver integrated, reliable technology solutions. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, solutions-driven professional who values high-quality work, teamwork, and contributing to vibrant community environments.


The ideal candidate brings a well-rounded background that may include experience in systems design, field installation, construction coordination, or network operations, along with a strong understanding of evolving technologies and industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and specification of advanced technology and communications systems, including:
    • Structured cabling systems (copper and fiber optic)
    • Enterprise and high-density wireless networks
    • Network routing, switching, and architecture
    • VoIP and unified communications systems
    • Video surveillance and physical security systems
    • Access control and building security integration
    • Network paging and A/V systems
    • Power and space planning for IT and telecommunications rooms
  • Apply industry standards and best practices (BICSI, NEC, EIA/TIA) to ensure high-performance and future-ready designs
  • Collaborate with project teams:
    • Project planning, budgeting, and scheduling
    • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and external stakeholders to ensure cohesive, code- compliant designs
  • Mentor and support junior staff, providing guidance on system design, documentation, and best practices
  • Conduct quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews of project deliverables
  • Develop detailed construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD
  • Participate in construction administration, including submittal review, contractor coordination, and site visits
  • Stay current with evolving technologies, industry codes & standards, and evolving client needs



Qualifications

  • 10–12+ years of experience in technology systems design, low-voltage systems, or related field
  • RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification from BICSI preferred
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Communications infrastructure (fiber, copper, wireless)
    • Industry Standards (BICSI, NEC, EIA/TIA)
    • Building Codes
    • IT integration
  • Experience working on K–12, municipal, or institutional projects a plus
  • Background may include experience in:
    • Communications contracting or construction management
    • Data center or network operations environments
    • Military or government technical systems
  • Proficiency with Revit (preferred), AutoCAD, and related design tools
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and coordination skills
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, electrical engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
