Position Description

Certified Medication Aide / Tech responsible for administering daily medication to residents in accordance with accepted standards of practice, state and federal regulations and licensing requirements. Duties include monitoring residents, reporting changes, and collecting and recording medication administration.

Job Type: Full-time, Part-time, and PRN

Shifts Available: Days 6a-2p/ Evenings 2p-10p

Responsibilities
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations in accordance with approved techniques and notes time and amount on resident's chart.
  • Deliver routine daily medications as prescribed by physicians to residents; pass resident medications in accordance with physician orders and as stated on the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
  • Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms and records; Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered and reports to nursing supervisor.
  • Presents medication to residents and observes ingestion or other applications, or administer medication, using specified procedures
  • Document completion of tasks delivered daily, Document any observed change of condition in accordance with local rules and regulations.
  • Assists with meal service; Identifies residents at risk for nutritional problems and implements preventative measures; Checks items and food that is brought in by family members to assure it complies with resident's orders, dietary needs, and safety; Monitors residents with significant weight loss and gain and reports this to the physician and dietary.
Qualifications
  • Certified in the state of practice, required.
  • Successful completion of State Approved and certified Medication Technician/Aide Nurse Aide Training and Competency evaluation Program; Name must appear on State Registry as Certified Medication Technician/Aide- in good standing.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
