Job description

We are looking for dedicated special education teachers to join our team. Ideal applicants will be passionate about working with primary and secondary students experiencing a variety of learning needs.
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES :
  • Perform evaluations to determine students' learning abilities and challenges.
  • Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) based on the results of these evaluations and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in the local special education committee.
  • Design and implement a differentiated instruction program tailored to students' specific needs.
  • Employ various pedagogical methods and resources to enhance students' learning experiences.
  • Work in close collaboration with parents, tutors and other teachers and support staff to ensure that effective communication and support are provided for each student.
  • Monitor students' progress and personalize educational strategies to harmonize with their needs and promote student success.
  • Create and keep detailed, up-to-date records of students' achievements and difficulties.
  • Stay informed about current trends, techniques and best practices in special education.
  • Take part in professional development events and training sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Bachelor's degree in special education, education or a specialization in a relevant field.
  • "Brevet d'enseignement", teaching permit or provisional teaching permit valid in Quebec or equivalent in another Canadian province.
  • Masters in special education an asset.

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.
REQUIREMENTS :
Proficiency in the teaching language (English, French or Inuktitut).
CLASSIFICATION/ SALARY/ BENEFITS :
Salary & benefits as per the Teachers Collective Agreement of the Board: from $54,119 to $105,432 annually depending on experience and qualifications.
