In the role of Traffic EIT, we'll count on you to: 
 
  • Support traffic engineering design and analysis for municipal and transit projects
  • Assist with corridor traffic analysis, intersection operations, and signal timing studies
  • Support preparation of traffic signal, ITS, signing/striping, and MOT/TCP design plans
  • Perform traffic data collection, QA/QC, and technical analysis tasks
  • Assist with traffic simulation and operational modeling efforts
  • Prepare technical reports, exhibits, figures, and project documentation
  • Coordinate with project teams and support client meeting preparation
  • Support project delivery for local agency and transit clients including Sound Transit and local municipalities
  • Assist senior staff with project coordination, field reviews, and construction support activities
  • Support development of traffic studies, operational analyses, and multimodal improvement concepts
  • Work as part of a traffic team under the direction of the Project Engineer/Manager on a variety of traffic forecasting, analysis and design needs for a variety of transportation projects
  • Conduct operational traffic analysis using a variety of modeling tools, ranging from highway capacity software to complex micro simulation models; analyze everything from isolated intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeway segments
  • Focus on traffic design, including accident analysis and mitigation strategies, signing, striping, traffic signals, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS), including real-time traffic information, adaptive signal control, closed circuit television (CCTV), and variable message signs (VMS)
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications 
 

  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office, Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS, AutoCAD and MicroStation
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Interest in traffic engineering, traffic operations, and transportation planning
  • Familiarity with traffic analysis and design software such as Synchro, SimTraffic, or VISSIM preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn
  • Interest in municipal and transit-related transportation projects
  • Experience with data analysis, GIS, or technical report preparation is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and work in a fast-paced consulting environment
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Conduct traffic design using CAD platforms including MicroStation, Autocad and Guide Sign software

  • Conduct operational analysis using a variety of analysis and modeling tools specific to support job duties, including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun

  • Conduct safety analysis using a variety of safety software tools including Highway Safety Software

  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to multitask while working on many projects at once
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
