In the role of Senior Traffic Engineer, we'll count on you to:
  • Lead traffic engineering design, corridor traffic analysis, and traffic operations efforts for municipal, transit, and infrastructure projects
  • Provide technical oversight and direction for traffic signal, ITS, roadway, MOT/TCP, and signal timing deliverables
  • Lead corridor operational analyses, intersection evaluations, signal timing optimization, and multimodal improvement studies
  • Serve as lead reviewer and perform quality control (QC) for plans, specifications, calculations, traffic models, and technical reports
  • Oversee project delivery, schedules, budgets, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams and agency stakeholders
  • Mentor and support junior engineering staff through technical guidance, training, and design review
  • Support development of traffic studies, operational analysis, simulation modeling, and corridor improvement concepts
  • Lead client coordination meetings, workshops, and technical presentations with agency partners and stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local agency and municipal clients
  • Support marketing and business development efforts including proposal support, interviews, project positioning, and client outreach
  • Identify and pursue new traffic engineering, ITS, traffic operations, and signal timing opportunities within the local market
  • Support strategic growth of traffic engineering services and expansion of stand-alone traffic projects
  • Coordinate with transit, roadway, water resources, and infrastructure teams to support integrated project delivery
  • Assist in providing oversight of the traffic control and sequencing plans throughout the construction phase of the project
  • Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity while planning and developing projects or design activities that have significant impact on major company programs
  • Organize and supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians as needed
  • Serve as project manager on larger projects, though project management is not sole focus of position as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • MSCE
  • Diverse experience in related fields such as toll roads, roadway design, or construction is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience leading client meetings, workshops, and presentations
  • Strong relationship-building skills with agency staff and project stakeholders
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience supporting business development, proposals, and client outreach efforts
  • Comfortable representing the firm in public meetings, conferences, and industry events
  • Interest in helping grow and strengthen the local traffic engineering practice
  • Experience with corridor traffic analysis, traffic operations, and signal timing projects preferred
  • Working knowledge of VISSIM microsimulation modeling and traffic analysis tools preferred
  • Familiarity with Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, or related traffic operations software preferred

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in ITS and traffic engineering for urban and rural highways, major and minor interchanges and intersections
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Knowledge of regulations of state and federal transportation agencies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience using HCS, CORSIM, Synchro/SIM Traffic and other software packages
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
