At Citizens, we are transforming how we use data to deliver relevant, timely, and personalized customer communications at scale. The Martech Platform Data Lead is responsible for defining and orchestrating the data requirements needed to power the organization's marketing communications technology ecosystem. This role partners across Marketing, Technology, Data & Analytics, and Customer Experience teams to ensure that the customer data utilized by the Martech platforms is accurate, accessible, governed, and optimized for activation across marketing channels.

The ideal candidate will help drive data architecture discussions, customer data needs, segmentation & audience data strategy, identity resolution, data governance, and platform integrations in partnership with Technology Services and Enterprise Data & Analytics team members to enable batch and real-time personalized, data-driven customer engagement. This individual will drive the evolution of the organization's customer communications' & marketing technology data capabilities while ensuring compliance, scalability, and business value realization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and maintain the martech & communications platform data strategy, roadmap, and governance routines aligned to business priorities.

  • Translate marketing, decisioning, and customer engagement use cases into clear data requirements, including ingestion, enrichment, identity, segmentation, and activation needs.

  • Partner with Technology Services and Enterprise Data & Analytics to shape data models, integrations, controls, monitoring, and remediation processes.

  • Drive data quality, metadata, taxonomy, and attribute standards for customer communications, personalization, targeting, reporting, and campaign/decisioning execution.

  • Support platform data modernization across marketing automation, customer decisioning, CRM, and customer communications tools.

  • Partner with Risk, Legal, Compliance, and data governance teams to ensure data use aligns with Citizens' policies and regulatory expectations.

  • Advise business and technical stakeholders on data dependencies, gaps, prioritization, and implementation trade-offs.

  • Build strong relationships with internal partners and vendors, providing recommendations and roadmap updates to senior leaders.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Marketing Technology, Analytics, Computer Science, or a related discipline; equivalent experience considered.

  • 8+ years of experience in customer data management, CRM, marketing technology, data strategy, or related roles.

  • Experience defining business and technical data requirements for enterprise marketing, CRM, communications, or customer engagement platforms.

  • Strong understanding of customer data architecture, governance, data quality, identity resolution, segmentation, integration patterns, and API/data movement concepts.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders, and communicate complex data topics clearly.

  • Experience operating in a highly governed or regulated environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with platforms such as Pega Customer Decision Hub, Zeta Marketing Platform, Adobe Journey Optimizer/Campaign, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Financial services/Banking or Regulatory data experience.

  • Familiarity with AI-driven personalization, decisioning, CDPs, privacy requirements, and customer 360 / identity strategies.

  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday
  • Hybrid: 4 days per week on-site, 1 day remote

Pay Transparency

The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $183,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the budget, work location, and relevant skills and experience.
