Title: Tax Intern
Location: Sarasota, FL
Start Date: January 2027
Position Overview:
A Tax Intern is an interim entry-level position which requires no prior public accounting or specialized industry experience. The primary function of the Tax Intern is to perform such functions related to accounting, tax, and other client services as directed by those professional members responsible for service completion. Performance is evaluated based on quality and accuracy of work, application of accounting and tax knowledge, and the ability to meet time and budget constraints, as well as client deadlines.
Essential Functions:
  • Records transactions in ledgers, prepares trial balances and simple financial statements using computer programs.
  • Reconciles accounts to control accounts.
  • Assists with proofing financial statements and other documents, as applicable.
  • Organizes work papers in a logical sequence that can be followed.
  • Meets time and budget constraints and client deadlines.
  • Communicates with clients and team members, as requested, in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Performs other accounting and tax duties as needed in engagements.

Other Functions:
  • Develops an understanding of and adheres to Firm policies and procedures including (as appropriate) Firm's Quality Control document.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Skills:
  • Ability to become proficient with multiple computer programs and spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrates good critical thinking, professional judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Conducts self with integrity in a responsible, professional manner and appearance.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Required Education: Bachelor's in accounting in progress
