Scrum Master

Location: Phoenix, AZ
Full-time (Onsite, NOT A REMOTE ROLE)

About the Role

We're seeking a Scrum Master to support several small cross-functional teams working on our financial platform. The ideal candidate is pragmatic - someone who values communication and delivery more than process theater. You'll facilitate sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups while ensuring progress toward real business outcomes. You'll serve as the connective tissue between engineering, QA, and product - not as a taskmaster, but as a partner in execution.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Facilitation

  • Coordinate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Ensure blockers are identified, communicated, and resolved quickly.
  • Keep sprint goals visible and realistic; protect the team from unnecessary churn.
  • Track commitments and outcomes without turning Agile into bureaucracy.

Process & Delivery

  • Maintain sprint metrics and velocity reporting using Azure DevOps or similar tools.
  • Identify patterns and bottlenecks and propose actionable improvements.
  • Continually collaborate with Product Owners to ensure backlog clarity and prioritization.
  • Coach teams in Agile principles and iterative delivery.

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Coordinate dependencies across engineering, QA, and operations.
  • Partner with stakeholders to refine release planning and resource alignment.
  • Communicate progress and risks clearly - no surprises.
What You Bring
  • 3-6 years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile delivery lead.
  • Proven ability to run multiple concurrent teams or projects.
  • Strong command of Agile frameworks and hybrid approaches (Scrum / Kanban).
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps Boards, Jira, or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Familiarity with software development concepts and release pipelines.
  • Ability to adapt frameworks to fit the work - not the other way around.
What We Value
  • Problem solvers who propose solutions, not just identify issues.
  • Self-awareness to spot gaps in your own work and communicate them.
  • Self-sufficient professionals who can meet realistic deadlines.
What We Offer
  • 100% Employer Paid Medical for Employee AND Whole Family Includes the Mayo Clinic
  • 401k/Roth Plan 4% Match with Immediate Vesting
  • Dental Insurance

Work Environment

This is a primarily onsite role with genuine flexibility. Core collaboration hours are 10 AM - 3 PM; manage your full schedule around that. Need a morning at home for an appointment? Handle it.
